245 years ago when the Declaration of Independence was signed Americans looked up at the same skies we see today, and after the fireworks have fizzled the stars will continue to shine!
This week is a perfect planet party: Hit the darkness around 9:30 this week find the Big Dipper in the North and look to your left.
There is Mars and Venus in the West less than a fist-width apart.
Enjoy the fireworks, grab a warm beverage and hit the skies again at two AM!
If you look South East it should be easy to spot two bright spots: Jupiter and Saturn shining brightly in the darkness.
If you look closely you ll notice the planets aren t twinkling like stars do -- that s because our atmosphere is what causes the stars to shimmer.
Our air scatters the fainter starlight causing them to twinkle, just like cosmic fireworks.
Enjoy the holiday, and KEEP LOOKIN UP!
