Ask your child to make up a story and then write it down; it will help their storytelling.
Stories are really important. Not just in books, but also in our everyday lives. Ask your child to make up a story. Write it down for them and then have them read it back to you for practice. This helps them see their ideas on the page and get better at telling stories.

Stories are really important.
Not just in books, but in our everyday lives as well.
I like to practice storytelling with my son by writing down what he makes up.
- Once there was a tree named Odokey We each have our own roles he serves as a storyteller and I am describe this keeps him more focused because he's the one in charge.
Once a story is written down I have him repeat it to me to practice his reading.
This exercise pushes him to reflect on what he's written and hear his thoughts out loud.
Creating stories also helps him organize his thoughts and use his imagination.
There's no telling what creatures he comes up with.
Not only does it produce a ton of laughs, but it's a helpful way to write stories that can last forever - [Narrator] Made possible by the generous support of the Marlene and Spencer Hays Foundation.
