- Buenos días, Mr. Sparks.
- Hola, Lucita.
Ooh, be careful where you land.
The ground there is very... - Whoa!
- Slippery.
- Ooh, I'm okay.
[shivers] Guess my wintertime landings could use some work.
- Wahoo!
Make way for the AJ express!
- Last stop, Hero Elementary.
- Now that's a great way to get to school in the winter.
- [whooshes] Morning, everybody--ugh.
[shivers] - Sara, where is your coat?
- Forgot it at home.
Sometimes I move too fast in the morning.
- Oh, it's important to bundle up now that it's winter.
- Okay, got it, Mr. Sparks.
Be back in a snap--home.
[whooshes] [muffled speech] Is this better?
- [chuckles] I think that's plenty.
[school bell rings] All right, Sparks' Crew, time to start our day.
Vamos!
[upbeat music] - Huh, it sure was cold outside.
- Hey, it's cold inside too.
- It shouldn't be so cold in the classroom.
- Maybe the heat isn't on.
In my house, we have to turn the heat on in the wintertime.
- The heat is on.
Nice warm air is coming in.
- So why does it feel so cold in here?
- I think I see the problem.
This window is open.
[wind whooshes] Brr.
- Ay, qué lata.
That tricky window.
It slides open if I forget to lock it.
It must have been open since yesterday.
- Oh, I bet Fur Blur was cold in here last night.
Aw, the little cutie's still sleeping.
[chuckles] Listen to that adorable snoring.
- [snores] - Time to wake up, girl.
Wakey, wakey.
- It's hard to get out of bed on a cold winter morning.
- Yeah, but I know what always gets her up--food.
Breakfast time, Fur Blur, ooh.
- Look, her food bowl is still full from last night's dinner.
- She's sleeping through two meals?
- She must be really tired.
- [clacks loudly] Hey, Fur Blur!
Wake up!
Come on, you little cutie!
- [snores] - I don't think anyone could sleep through that.
- Oh, that's strange.
It isn't like Fur Blur to sleep so much.
- Huh, you think something's wrong with her?
- I don't think so.
- Maybe we can figure it out if we use our... [together] Superpowers of Science!
- Let's start by writing down what we know so far.
- Okay, our little Fur Blur keeps sleeping.
- Keeps sleeping.
- And she's not eating.
- Not eating.
- So what do we do with this information?
- Maybe we should share it with somebody who knows about hamsters so they can tell us what it means.
- Ah, sí, let's ask an expert.
- Ooh, we can ask Pop Pop, my grandpa.
He's a veterinarian.
- A veteri-what?
- A veterinarian, an animal doctor.
- Good idea.
Veterinarians know how to take care of all kinds of animals.
- I'll call him.
[device whirring] - Hello.
- Hi, Pop Pop.
- Oh, Benny!
Always nice to get a call from my grandson.
Oh, and your friends.
- We need your help, Pop Pop.
There's something wrong with our class pet.
- Oh, your hamster Fur Blur?
What's going on?
- Here's what we know.
Fur Blur keeps sleeping, and she's not eating.
- Uh-huh, that's good information.
Tell me more.
Does she feel cold when you touch her?
- Uh, yeah, yeah, she's not warm like usual.
- Uh-huh, and is it cold in your classroom?
- Very cold.
The window was open all night long.
- Aha, I think I know what's going on, but I wanna take a look at Fur Blur myself to be sure.
Can you bring her to my veterinary office right away?
- Of course.
We can come right now.
- Okay, keep her as warm as you can in her cage.
I'll see you soon.
- Thanks, Pop Pop!
- Fur Blur can use my scarf.
♪ ♪ It's really warm.
- Don't worry, little Furbly.
We'll get you checked out in no time.
- Who's the crew who knows what to do?
[together] Sparks' Crew to the Rescue.
♪ ♪ - Come, we can take the school van.
Ay, no.
[sighs] I'll get a shovel to start digging.
- There's no time for that.
We have to get Fur Blur to Pop Pop's quick.
- Okay, then I'll meet you there.
♪ ♪ - Don't worry, Fur Blur, I'll take you there myself.
Bubble up!
Whoa, whoa!
I guess I need to do things differently in the winter.
- Oh, maybe I can fly Fur Blur to your Pop Pop's?
[struggles audibly] Too heavy.
- I'll help.
- Careful.
- Uh-oh.
- This isn't working.
- She even slept through that?
Oh, we have to get her to Pop Pop's to see what's going on.
- Why don't I just teleport her there?
It'll be quick as a snap.
[whooshes] Okay, I don't actually know where Pop Pop's office is.
- It's, um--well, I don't know the names of the streets or anything, but I know how to get there.
- Then lead the way, Benny.
- But if I bounce, I'll slip, and If I walk, we'll go too slow.
- Hmm.
[gasps] Like you said, you just need to do things differently in the winter.
♪ ♪ - Hey, yeah!
We can take the AJ express.
- All aboard!
- Come on, let's go.
- Yeah.
You can ride with me, Fur Blur.
We'll get you there safe.
- Which way?
- I always take a shortcut through the park.
- Next stop, the veterinarian's office!
♪ ♪ - So they started through the snow with a hamster in tow.
♪ ♪ - How's Fur Blur doing?
- [snoring] - Still sleeping.
I hope Pop Pop can figure out what's wrong with her.
- Which way do we go now?
- I'm not sure.
There's a path that I always follow, but it's all covered in snow.
- Can you give us any more information?
Like, oh, what do you see when you take this shortcut?
- Trees--the path goes past three trees in a row all with big, green leaves.
- There's no leaves on these trees in the winter.
- But look!
There are three trees in a row on that hill.
- Those are the ones!
The path goes up the hill and right past those trees.
- Let's move.
♪ ♪ - [straining audibly] - I'll help you pull.
- Thanks.
♪ ♪ - Nice view.
- There it is, Pop Pop's veterinary office.
- We found it.
- Whoo-hoo!
- Yippee!
- All right!
- Yeah, we did it!
- We're almost there, Fur Blur.
Huh?
[gasps] Fur Blur!
♪ ♪ - Let's go!
- [whooshes] - Bubble up!
[dramatic music] Oh, no!
♪ ♪ - [whooshes] ♪ ♪ Oh, no.
[together] Fur Blur!
♪ ♪ - Wow.
- Whoa.
- Amazing.
- She's okay.
- [snores] She's still sleeping.
- Benny, I didn't know you could make bubbles like that.
- I can't, but I know who can.
[upbeat music] Pop Pop!
- Benny!
I thought I'd come meet you since travelling in the snow can be a challenge.
Oh, there's my little patient.
Aw, come with me, little fluffy wuffy.
Let's see what the problem is.
♪ ♪ Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh, I see.
Hmm.
- I got here as fast as I could on those snowy roads.
How's Fur Blur?
- Yeah, what's wrong with her, Pop Pop?
Give it to us straight.
- Well, it seems that your hamster is hibernating.
[together] Hibernating?
- Yes, hibernating is like a very deep sleep.
In the winter, when it gets cold, some animals, like bears, hibernate and sleep right through the winter until the weather gets warm in the spring.
- That is one long nap.
- But a pet hamster, like this little cutie, can even hibernate for a short time if she's in a very cold place.
- So Fur Blur's going to sleep until spring?
- Oh, no, no, now that she's in my warm office, she'll wake up when she warms up enough.
It will probably take a few hours.
- Phew, you hear that, Fur Blur?
You'll wake up soon.
We just have to wait.
- So we waited... [soft dramatic music] And waited... [together] Oof.
♪ ♪ - And waited.
♪ ♪ - [spits] - Until... - [slurps] - Look, she moved.
Come on, wake up.
- [yawns] - Hooray!
- She's awake!
- Whoo-hoo!
- Yay!
- Fantástico.
- [yawns] [squeaks] - Well, hello there, you little cutie wutie.
- Oh, Fur Blur, we're so glad you're okay.
- You've been asleep for a while.
I bet you're hungry, aren't you?
- [squeaks] - Oh, pop, pop.
[chuckles] - [squeaks] - Hungry, Fur Blur?
- [squeaks] - I'd say that's a yes.
- Oh, yeah.
- She's a cutie.
- Pets can warm our hearts all year long, but when cold winter weather arrives, be sure to keep your pet nice and warm.
- ♪ We all belong at Hero Elementary ♪ - It was a great day for a field trip.
Summer was just beginning, and things were heating up with excitement.

- And to make sure, I brought my super fun list.
- Oh, what's that?
- It's a list of all the fun things I did the last time I visited the lake with my family.
It was the best day ever, and I really want to do everything on this list again.
- Hey, if we do everything on AJ's list, maybe we'll have the best day ever too.
- I'm in.
- Let's do it.
- Oh, boy, I can't wait.
- My students didn't have to wait too long, because soon we arrived at Super Superior Lake.
- Whoa!
- Let's go!
- Yes, awesome.
[upbeat music] - Oh, yeah!
- Oh, yippee!
- I hope you all remembered to put on sunscreen at home.
The sun is very strong now that it's summer.
- We're all sunscreen-ed up, Mr. S. - So is everyone ready to have the best day ever?
- Totally.
- Yeah!
- Oh, what's the first thing on your super fun list, AJ?
♪ ♪ - Huh?
- We are going to... build a snowman?
- Huh?
- Huh?
- When did you make this list, AJ?
- The last time I visited the lake... in the winter--oh.
- Maybe there's something else on your list that you can do.
- Hm, "build a snowman, throw snowballs, hike to the frozen waterfall."
Ugh, everything on this list has to do with winter.
I didn't think about how hot it would be now that it's summer.
- I know you're upset, but we can still have the best day ever.
- Mm, how?
- I'm sure we can figure it out.
- Yeah, after all, we're Sparks' Crew.
Solving problems is kind of our thing, right?
- [breathes deeply] Right.
- Yeah, we'll just do what we always do.
We'll use our... [together] Superpowers of Science!
- Always a good idea.
- Let's start by understanding the problem so we can make a plan to solve it.
- Hmm.
- Hmm.
Okay, problem is, AJ made his list in the winter when it was cold and there was lots of snow.
- But now it's summer, and it's much warmer, and there's no snow.
- But I had a lot of fun building a snowman.
- Well, maybe we could build something else instead.
- Hmm.
There is lots of sand here.
Maybe we could build sandcastles instead?
- Hey, yeah!
- Great solution.
- Sí, genial.
Good thing I packed these.
♪ ♪ - Let's do this!
[whooshes] ♪ ♪ - [squeaking] ♪ ♪ - And done!
- Huh.
♪ ♪ [whooshes] ♪ ♪ - I like the decorations on your sandcastle, Lucita.
- Gracias.
- [whooshes] [grunts] - Wow, Sara, that is a super-sized sandcastle.
- Yeah, I like to build 'em big and strong.
- Ta-da!
- Benny, I've never seen a sandcastle built without sand.
- Well, it's on the sand, and it is a castle.
- [squeaks] - Was a castle.
- Phew, ah.
- And how are you doing here, AJ?
- [sighs] Not good.
Phew, it's too hot in the sun.
Oh, how am I gonna have the best day ever if I'm too warm to make a sandcastle?
- Don't worry, I'm sure we can solve this problem.
- Yes, keep using your Superpowers of Science.
- [sighs] Well, last time I was here at the lake, I didn't get hot at all.
Thought projecting.
- Let's compare.
Last time it was winter, and it was cold out.
You wore gloves and a winter coat just to keep warm.
- But now in the summer, it's really hot out.
- We're all wearing summer clothes, but you're wearing long sleeves and long pants.
- Because I'm used to wearing my hero suit.
- But that could be the problem.
Those clothes are making you hotter.
- I have a plan to solve this.
You can just change into some summer clothes.
- But I didn't pack any.
- Not a problem.

[whooshes] ♪ ♪ [whooshes] Here you go.
Oh, and your dad says hi.
♪ ♪ - Whoa, coo, AJ.
- [sighs] Yes, I do feel cool in my summer clothes.
- I meant your sandcastle looks cool, but I'm glad you're feeling better.
- So what's next on your super fun list, AJ?
- Let's see.
Next is "throwing snowballs"?
We can't do that in the summer either--no snow.
- Well, we can't throw snowballs, but we can throw bubble balls!
- Yay!
- yippee!
- Whoo-hoo!
- Got it!
- Here's another.
- [whooshes] Try to catch this!
- Ooh, heads up, Benny.
♪ ♪ - [squeaks] - Great catch, AJ.
- Phew.
[whooshes] [whooshes] Whoa, I'm not feeling too good.
- Sara, are you okay?
- I'm kind of woozy.
I don't get it.
I can usually play all day long.
- Maybe we can help if we can figure out what the problem is.
- Well, I've been sweating a lot, and I'm really thirsty.
- We do sweat more in the summertime because it's so hot, and that can make us thirsty.
- So maybe a cool drink of water will solve this problem.
- Mm-hmm, I've got water for everyone back at the van.
Vámonos.
♪ ♪ - Ah.
- Better?
- Better.
Thanks, Mr. S. - Okay, AJ, what's next on your super fun list?
♪ ♪ - "Hike to the frozen waterfall."
Oh, well, it won't be frozen now that it's summer.
- But a hike to see the waterfall sounds great.
- I guess so.
- To the waterfall!
[together] To the waterfall!
- [chuckles] So excited!
- I can't wait.

- [squeaks] [wind whooshes] [dramatic music] [upbeat music] - Ah, you gotta love a nice, relaxing hike through nature.
[insects buzzing] Ugh, ah, ugh.
- Ugh, flies.
This isn't relaxing at all.
- Shoo, fly, shoo, ugh.
- Ugh, there weren't any insects the last time I was here.
- That's because there's more insects in the warm weather.
- Insects really bug me.
- Bug you?
[chuckles] Good one, AJ.
- Huh?
- If the flies are really bothering you, maybe we should go back.
- But the waterfall's on my super fun list, and even though it's not frozen, I really want to see it so we can have the best day ever.
- I guess we just have to deal with the insects.
Let's not let them stop our summer fun.
- Oh, I guess.
- So we keep going?

♪ ♪ - [gasps] We made it to the waterfall.
Wow!
- Ooh!
- Amazing.
- Wow.

- [sighs] That was a great hike.
- Yeah, I can't wait to tell Fur Blur about the waterfall.
Huh, where is she anyway?
- Uh-oh, there she is.
- [squeaks] - Way out in the middle of the lake.
- [gasps] She can't get back on her own.
We have to help her.
- Well, who's the crew who knows what to do?
[together] Sparks' Crew to the Rescue.
- Bubble up!
- [squeaks] - Aw, she's too far for bubbles to reach her.
- And I can't teleport there, or I'll land in the lake.
- My list!
- AJ, this is no time for-- - The next thing on the list can help us rescue Fur Blur.
Go snow tubing.
- But you need snow to do that.
You can't go snowtubing in the summer.
- But I can go water tubing.
♪ ♪ We're coming, Fur Blur!
- [squeaks] ♪ ♪ [squeaks] - Fur Blur!
- Oh, no!
- [squeaks] - Phew.
- Whew.
- Let's try again.
I'll use my Arm-O-Matic this time.
- All right.
- [squeaks] ♪ ♪ - Gotcha!
- [squeaks] - Amazing!
- Ah, yeah!
- Way to go, AJ!
- Great job!
♪ ♪ Wow, what a day.
You must all be hungry for dinner.
- Oh, yes!
- You bet!
- [sighs] Oh, no, it's already time for dinner?
Aw.
- What's wrong?
- Last time, it was dark at dinnertime, and we still haven't done everything on my super fun list.
- But, AJ, the last time you were here was winter.
In summer, it stays light out much longer-- way past dinner.
- So there's still more time before it gets dark?
- Sí, enough time to finish all the things on your super fun list.
- Or something like them.
We can't make snow angels or drink hot cocoa, but we can make sand angels and drink cold milkshakes.
- You know what, AJ?
Your list really did make today the best day ever!
- Yeah, now, did somebody say sand angels?
- Sand angels.
- And so my crew figured out that when things start heating up, you just need to make a few changes to keep your cool.
