It's a corner of Iowa that's home to historic apple orchards, two herds of ancient White Park cattle, trout streams and lush display gardens.
[Diane Ott Whealy] When we looked for a place to do our work, we never dreamt we'd find a place as perfect as this.
We're preserving a beautiful landscape in addition to our gardens, which is equally as important because we need the landscape for pollinators.
[Mike Bollinger] For me, it just feels like a breath of fresh air when you come here.
And I feel like that is something that Kent and Diane really envisioned when they started.
It was a place for people to come and experience and kind of, you know, understand what biodiversity looks like and feels like and tastes like.
And I think that that's part of what we're doing when we're thinking about, you know, the 12 to 15,000 people that come here a year is providing that opportunity for folks to be able to walk anywhere, right, and have access to this land.
They can come out and they can fish.
They can, you know, walk up to the orchard.
We've got nine miles of hiking trails.
Right.
And it's really an opportunity to be able to come in and just kind of relax your shoulders and have a breath of fresh air and take in kind of the beauty that is, you know, this corner of northeast Iowa.
