Will Maine conform its state tax code to align with the federal code?
Congress passed sweeping federal tax reform in December 2017. Governor Paul LePage has introduced legislation to bring Maine's tax code back into conformity with federal tax code to simplify tax filings for Maine residents and businesses as well as cut $88.2 million in taxes next year. Democrats in the legislature do not seem to agree with proposed cuts leaving the future of conformity in limbo.
