(squawking) I wonder if something's wrong with the windmill that makes our power.

A windmill makes your power?

The wind pushes the windmill's blades, the blades turn, and when the blades turn, it makes power.
- Oh!
The power you need to turn on the lights and play music!
- We'd better check out the windmill and see what's wrong.

The windmill is not turning.

The windmill is definitely not turning.
- Maybe broken blade is problem.
Let's take it off.
- And Mecha Elmo knows just the tool for that!

(grunting) Whoa!
This thing sure is heavy!
(crash!)

- Oh, it's still not turning.
Taking the broken blade off didn't make the windmill turn.
- Hmm.

Is there enough wind?
- Well, the wind is turning this pinwheel.
- Oh.
The pinwheel has blades all the way around.
The windmill is missing a blade.
- Maybe to get the windmill to turn, we have to replace the missing blade with something new!
- Yeah, yeah.
Let's look for something that will be easy for the wind to blow!
Hey, look!
Floppy sock thingy at launch site always blow in wind!
What that called?
- That's called a, uh, uh...
I forgot.
But I'm gonna go find out!

- Oh, no.

- Hey, Zee, what is this called?
- Oh, that's called a windsock.
It shows me how much or how little the wind is blowing.
- Can we borrow it?
- Of course.

Hey, Mechas, I got the windsock!
- Oh, Mecha Elmo can attach it.
Ta-da!

(laughing) The wind makes it move like it's dancing!
(Abby laughing) - Nice moves, Mecha Elmo.
It moves like that because it's flexible.
- What's "flexible"?
- When something's flexible, that means it's easy to bend or change shape.
- Hmm.
(groaning) Ah.
Broken windmill blade is not flexible.
- When things are hard to bend, that means they're rigid.
- Oh, adding the windsock didn't work.
The windmill still isn't turning.
- Don't give up, Mechas.
We can still figure this out.
Elmo, can we see your pinwheel again?
- The wind makes the pinwheel turn, so why doesn't the windmill turn?
- Look!
All the blades on the pinwheel are the same.
(Elmo): But the windsock is smaller than the other windmill blades.
(Cookie): And not the same shape.
And it also not rigid.
- You're right.
Check it out.
We need to replace the old blade with something that's the same size, the same shape, and is rigid like the other blades.
Then the wind can push the windmill blades again, and that will make power!
(Elmo): Where can we find something the same size and shape that's also rigid?
- Hmm.
Rockets are rigid.
But where we find rockets?
- Oh, that's it!
Zee has lots of different rockets.
I'll go ask him if we can have one, and Mecha Elmo can cut it into the right size and shape.
- But to carry a big rocket... (both): Mecha Abby would have to go Mecha Giant!
- Go Mecha Giant...!
- Remember the rule.
Cookie clock is gone, Mecha Abby will shrink back to normal size.

(Elmo cheering) - Come on, come on, come on.

- Zee, do you have any rigid rocket parts we can borrow?

(both): The machine isn't working!

(Elmo cheering) (Cookie exclaiming) Whoa...!

- We need some help!
- What is that?

Our machine isn't working.
(Elmo): Is this your machine right here?
- No, that's just one piece of our machine.

- The machine is made up of many connecting pieces.
- Each piece causes the next piece to move, eventually sending this ball all the way into this launcher.
(all): Ooh!
- But it's not working.
- Uh, what does it do when it is working?
- Something really cool.
- It launches the ball into the sky!
And sends it over here... (both): To call birds!
(all): What?!
- You built all this to call birds?!
- It's for Grandma.
She comes and sits here every day to feed the birds.
But no matter how much birdseed she throws in the air, they never come.
- So we got this bird-caller.
It's guaranteed to call birds.
So it says on the package.
Check it out!
(inhaling deeply) (tweeting) (tweeting) I just can't blow it loud enough.
- That's where the machine comes in.
It'll make this bird-caller whistle so loud, every bird in Pretty Big City will hear it!
- And know when it's dinnertime.
- Whoo-hoo!
- Yes!
All we need to do is get it to work.
- So what's wrong with the machine?
- The ball is supposed to bounce from here into the launcher over there, but it won't bounce far enough.
- If the ball doesn't bounce all the way to the launcher, the machine can't finish.
- And it won't be able to call the birds.
- Oh, no.
- That is a problem.
- Mechas, we've got a problem to solve!
- Plan it!
- Test it!
- Solve it!
Yah!
♪ - Okay, let's find something that will help the ball bounce far enough to keep the machine going.
(all): Hmm.
- Oh!
Mecha Elmo may have already found something.

- A healthy lunch?
- Nope, a big sponge.

(Cookie and Izzy groaning) - It's too far down to reach.
We'll never get it back now.

The factory is making springs today!

- Can I help you, Mecha Cookie Monster?
- Uh, yeah, me need one big, strong spring to complete giant machine, so Timmy's grandma can call birds, please.

- Okay, let's test it!
- Do you want to cut the rope?
- Yes!
Let's get this machine going!
Here it goes!
Launching ball... - Banging drum... - Hitting the racket... - And tipping the bowling ball!
- Yeah!
(Abby): It bounces off the table... (Cookie): To the spring!

The spring bounced it too high!

Hey, this pretty bouncy.
But not too bouncy.

How high the ball goes depends on the material that it bounces on.
Some materials make the ball bounce low, others make it go high.
We need to find one that's just right.
- I bet that's exactly what we need to finish the machine.
- What machine, Timmy?
(all): Grandma!
- Oh!
What a nice, loud greeting.
(chuckling) Hello, everybody.
I'm here to feed the birds.
But there are never any birds around here.
- Wait till you see what we built for you!
- Yah.

We're done!
- Okay, Grandma, whenever you're ready.
- Here goes!
Oh, yeah!
Oh, look at it go!
