He could smell the acorns.

If we are going to beat Chucky, we need to bury the acorns.
He can't smell them if they're buried underground.
Cool.
We'll dig the deepest hole that's ever been dug and...
I have a steam-shovel... Somewhere... Not just one hole.
We have to dig lots.
But why?
If we put all the acorns in the same place, Chucky, or some other animal, could find them all at once!
♫ Delicious!
(burp) We can't hide any more acorns with Chucky watching us.
What can we do?
We'll distract him!
