The CPB is closing it's doors, but the real challenge is the loss of funding.
The Corporation for Public Broadcasting has announced that it will close it's doors. While it's disheartening, the real challenge for stations is the loss of the funding the CPB provided, not the closing of the agency itself.

Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship- [Narrator] What does the closure of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting mean to your local public media stations?
The CPB was created by Congress as a federally funded nonprofit organization to monitor and distribute dollars to support local public broadcasting stations, education, and emergency alert systems across the nation.
They received 100% of their funding from the federal government.
With that funding eliminated, the organization has no money to operate or distribute, resulting in the closure of the organization.
However, the real challenge for stations like ours is the loss of the federal funding the CPB distributed, not the closure of the CPB itself.
When Congress recently voted to eliminate funding to NPR and PBS, that was not quite accurate.
70% of that funding was distributed directly to public television and radio stations across the nation.
The real loss of funding was to the local stations and the communities they serve.
