There's still so much to do, a lot of organizing, name picking, decorating, and cleaning, all while lugging around 25 or so extra pounds.

-Today, we're back with Schrita and Shante, where apartment living suits our couple's busy lifestyle best.
-And they have chosen a vintage, sports-themed nursery.
-However, as with many apartments, there's tight restrictions on painting and modifications.
So "Baby Makes 3" has been challenged with creating a nursery with fewer design options, building much of it off-site.
But we're at halftime.
We're going to go out, and we're going to give 110%, and we're going to get this nursery finished today on "Baby Makes 3."
-Oh, my.
-Wow.
-This is so nice.
-That moment when you go from couple to family, everything changes.
When you bring the baby home, you want to create a warm, comfortable, and safe environment for them.
Step one, the nursery.
♪ -My name is Schrita.
-And I'm Shante.
-And we're pregnant.
-And we're pregnant.
-Friends and family members all, you know, asking us, "When are you guys going to have a baby?
When you going to have a baby?"
You know, at one point in time, we didn't get discouraged, but, you know, we looked at it as, whenever God allow us to have it, it'll happen.
Then we were sent an opportunity, you know, we met Zach, and I just looked at it like, "Well, maybe this is our calling, and he's going to be our family."
And I know it's a little different family, but we're all still family.
so... -Yeah.
And also, too, it makes me emotional, because I'm just thankful that Bryson will have both of his parents in his life, growing up without a dad on both of our ends.
-Both sides.
-So that's a blessing.
He got his mom and his dad together.
We agreed on the sports theme because sports is so broad.
I mean, it's no limit to what you can do, whether it's football, basketball, tennis, or whatever.
-I'm just a big sports fanatic.
I just hope Bryson has that same passion.
-Working with "Baby Makes 3" was appealing because you guys introduced a lot of DIY projects that I never thought that I could do on my own.
It's a difference in seeing things online, such as different websites on how to do things.
But when somebody comes in and show you what to do, it makes a big difference.
It's like, "Oh, I did that.
It wasn't that bad."
So I am so thankful for that.
Neither one of us is crafty.
So... -She's a little more crafty than I am.
-Just a tad bit.
But -- -One of our challenges with Schrita and Shante's sports-themed nursery has been the restrictions of their community on painting and decorating.
Last time on "Baby Makes 3," we introduced them to a number of DIY projects that will change the look of the room without changing the room itself.
We created a wall-of-fame framed net to hold pictures and mementos.
We also built a vintage basketball goal to accent the room.
Our full-wall basketball court decal will serve as a backdrop for a crib in a dark walnut finish.
Window treatments and the vintage basketball backboard will add to our sports theme.
♪ Across the room, we'll place a football-field-inspired rug and add a dresser complete with changing pad.
In the adjacent corner, we'll be placing a comfortable rocking chair with side table, and overhead, a shadow box of sports memorabilia.
Right now, we're getting started by turning a baseball bat into a coat hook.
All right.
Well, a great way to incorporate storage into a sports theme is a coat rack with this vintage bat that we found.
And the way that we prepped it is we used a joiner, and we passed it through several times.
You can feel it.
-It's really smooth.
-It's very flat, so it'll go right against your wall.
-Okay.
-And then we put these keyholes in it so we can hang it.
-Cool.
-So now the next step is, we're going to drill holes so we can put these pegs into it.
-Okay.
-Okay?
-All right.
Glasses.
Are we ready?
-See if I can get these over my glasses.
-Okay.
So we've already measured this out, and we've got our marks right there.
-Yes.
-Okay.
-So I'm going to do the first one.
If you guys could just hold the bat down for me.
Make sure it's straight.
Okay.
And I'm just going to hold it down straight.
-Okay.
-Push it in.
It's that easy.
All right.
One down.
All right.
Who wants to try it next?
-I will.
-I'm going to let you go.
-All right.
♪ -I think you're good.
All right.
♪ -[ Speaking indistinctly ] How'd that feel?
-I feel like a soldier.
-Like a soldier?
I love it.
Oh, that's perfect.
That's great.
So all we have to do is add the rest of the pegs, and then we're going to stain them so it goes with the vintage-style look.
-Okay.
-And then, later, we'll hang it on your wall, and then you can have your baby clothes or your diaper bags or toys, just great added storage.
-Cool.
-Thank you.
-Nice.
-Awesome.
-So, these pegs are very similar, except the ends of them are a little different thicknesses, so not all of them fit in the bat.
So I'm just going to do a quick, easy fix.
I'm going to sand them down.
We'll add the wood glue, pop them in -- perfect.
♪ What we have here is a shadow box.
-Okay.
-But we're going to transform it into a ticket stub keepsake box, because I know you guys like to go to lots of games and things like that.
And we routed a hole right there, so you can slip it through there.
-Cool.
♪ -And you can remember all the fun times you guys had.
-Okay.
-So it will have a back that goes on it, but we're leaving it off right now because we want to decorate the front.
-Right.
Okay.
-So keeping with our distressed, vintage look, we have these really cool, little distressed stencil stars.
So we're going to put stars on either end, and then we also have his initials that we're going to put in the middle.
-Okay.
-And then I also put this piece of tape right down here because, when we put it in place, this'll just help tack it down, hold it in place.
-Okay.
-And then these cute, little things are dabbers.
-Okay.
-It helps us with the stenciling.
-Okay.
-So I've got some black paint.
This is glass paint.
It takes about 20 minutes to dry.
The great thing about glass paint, especially, is it's so easy to clean up.
So if we make a mistake when it's still wet, it wipes right off.
-Oh, okay.
-So... -That's even better.
-We need very little.
It's runnier, thinner than regular paint, which is great for the distressed look.
But you don't want very much at all for this kind of stenciling.
-Okay.
All right.
-So I'm just going to get you a tiny bit on here.
And then you're just going to dab it... -Thank you.
-...on that star right there.
-All right.
-Just dab, yep.
Dab it a few times.
That's good.
Then move on to the next one.
-Okay.
-And then just go down your row.
-All right.
-Yes, try and stay on just the bottom.
-All right.
♪ -As you can see, super easy to wipe off.
Just dab.
-All right.
♪ -You're getting better and better.
♪ Ooh, look at that.
Now what we're going to do is we're going to flip it around and do the same thing to this side.
-Cool.
-Easy and quick, but it just kind of adds a little personality.
♪ -Perfect.
-All right.
-Looks really good.
-So last but not least.
-Okay.
Initial time.
-Yeah, initial time, that's right.
-Cool.
-Aww.
-How cute is that?
Look at that.
Aww, how sweet.
It's beautiful.
-I love it.
-You're going to start adding tickets and tickets.
And you're going to look at this, and you're going to see how much fun you guys have as a family.
-I'm ready for that.
Can't wait.
-You are ready for that.
You're going to have fun.
-Yes, definitely ready.
♪ -Out back, Dylan and Shante are working to complete our sports memorabilia shadow box by staining the frame and adding felt inside.
-No wet areas.
That's pretty much it.
♪ You can really get rid of some fingerprints and stuff like that, too.
Like, there's some on the edge.
Yeah.
Looking good.
Ready to put some red felt in there?
-Red felt?
Okay.
-Red felt.
-All right.
-The felt will serve as a backdrop and accent for the sports gear when we put it in place.
♪ Dylan will staple in place and glue quarter-round trim molding to give it a finished look.
♪ What we have here is a large shadow box.
-Okay.
-We're going to create some fun by taking all this really vintage sports equipment, and we're going to create some wall art with it.
And we wanted to use items from lots of different sports because you don't know what your son is really going to be interested in.
So we want to inspire him with all types of sports.
-Okay.
-So you're going to have fun.
You're going to dig in there, find the items you like, and just play around with how you want it to look.
-Okay.
-This will be the bottom.
Just think about that, okay?
I'm going to let you guys work on this yourself, and I'll come back and check in.
-Great.
-Okay.

What do you want to go with?
I thought the box was great.
Most of the items in the box were vintage, which goes with the whole sports theme, so it was really cool.
And what else?
-This cool, heavy-duty baseball Louisville Slugger.
It's a very vintage look, and I can probably explain to him some of the different sports and different aspects of the games and, just further along down the line, how sports might change and, like, look back at how they used to wear this.
"They used to wear this, son."
You know?
♪ -I think this is good enough.
You think so?
-Yeah, it's cool.
-So how did we do?
-I think we did pretty good.
How do you like it?
-I love it.
You did great.
-Thank you.

-So now what we're going to do is we're going to drill them.
Let's do it, Jonathan.
-Cool.
♪ -This is going to be a really fun project.
-Okay.
-So, your baby's going to lay on his back a lot in the crib, and we want something for him to look up at.
-Okay.
-So we are going to make him a fly ball mobile.
-Cool.
-So we have this really cool, beautiful sky that we're going to put up on the ceiling.
And then we're going to hang these flying baseballs from it.
So what we did, since it's hanging from the ceiling, we want to use eye-hooks so that there's no way for it to slip off, because there's a round circle.
So these just screw right into the ball.
-Mm-hmm.
-So you want to push the screw in and then actually turn the ball.
-Okay.
-You want the eye-hook to grab to the inside of the ball.
And then, when it does, you can just start turning this.
Yeah, it's actually really easy.
-Gotcha.
-Now, do you have to start a hole?
-No.
No, that's the great thing about the baseballs.
You just have to push it in and turn the baseball first.
-Mm-hmm.
-But it'll go right in, because it's the soft leather.
-Okay.
-Okay.
Just like that.
-Okay.
Simple.
-Yeah, very simple.
-That looks pretty simple.
-Awesome.
-That's the first step.
-All right.
-Okay.
And we've done that with the rest of these baseballs.
-Okay.
-And then we precut these adorable, little wings to make them flying.
So basically, we just cut out the wings and glued these two together.
-Okay.
-And then, all of us are going to glue them onto the baseball.
Just to make sure that it's extra secure, I'm going to actually also screw in these wings.
That is secure.
That is not coming off.
Now that I've secured the wings, I don't want the screws to show, so I'm just going to dab them with a little bit of black paint.
-Okay.
-And then you're not even going to see that they're there.
Like that.
So it's flying.
[ Laughter ] -Knock it out the park.
-Okay.
So we're going to do that to all of these balls, and when we're done, we want to make it extra personal.
And we're going to have you guys think of some words or messages you want to share with your son.
And then we're going to have you write them on there, and then they're going to hang, and he'll be able to look up.
-Cool.
Okay.
-Okay.
-Sounds good.
-So back to the first step.
So I'm going to give you each a baseball.
-Okay.
Thank you.
-Two wings.
-All right.
-Two wings.
And you see you've already kind of got this design here.
-Yes.
So we line it up with the sticker, pretty much.
-Yes, exactly.
-Okay.
-It is super glue, so be careful.
Don't glue your fingers together.
Eyeball that so it's right there.
It takes about 30 seconds, and then it's dry.
-Cool.
-And then, before we get to that one, you see how it's kind of open?
-Yes.
-So then I just want to fill that in with a little extra glue.
-Okay.
♪ -Okay.
So, here, our final step for the balls is writing in a word or a message that you'd love your little son to look up and not read yet, but at least you know those messages are there.
♪ -That one says, "Think, believe, achieve."
-Always dream big.
♪ -The fly-ball project was very unique and creative.
Who would've thought of putting wings on a baseball?
So that was really cool.
-Yeah, fly wings.
Yeah, that was neat, and I really enjoyed it.
And the idea with the messages, something he could always read, and then as he grows and get older, he might understand the messages more.
So it means a lot.
-I put, "Family is everything."
-Aww.
-Because you guys are an amazing family.
-Thank you.
-Thank you.
-So inspiring.
-Thank you.
-Thank you.
That was really sweet.
♪ -All right.
So now, we're going to bring out the board, our sky.
And we're going to just place these around wherever you want them to be floating from the sky.
And we'll drill a couple little holes, and we'll use our fishing wire, and we'll hang the balls.
-Cool.
♪ -Oh, wow!
You guys, that looks fantastic!
Wow!
So, you know, we couldn't paint because the HOA had restrictions.
So that's why we're putting up this wall decal, but I think this looks fantastic.
-It's looking good, for sure.
Yeah, for sure.
-Talk me through the install so far.
-Basically, the easiest way to put on a vinyl sticker that comes with a backer on it, tape it into position so that it's not moving around.
Then we're just going to be able to fold part of it down.
We'll peel the backer off, then get rid of the backer so it's not in the way anymore.
And we'll have the starting point where the tape is to just adhere it to the wall going up.
Then we can pull the tape off, and we can pull the backer off and adhere it to the wall going down.
-Here we go.
-Okay.
-There we go.
-The last thing that we're going to do is just trim off this excess at the bottom.
Looks like we did a really good job getting it to line up, so pretty happy with the way it turned out.
Then we'll just go over it with the spreader and just make sure that there's no bubbles.
There's an air bubble right here, and the air doesn't want to just go through the vinyl.
So the easiest way to fix it, just force all the air into one spot.
Then just poke a small hole in there.
And then, using two of them, just force the air into that spot, and it's just gone.
-See, that's brilliant.
♪ Wow.
-Nice.
-That was an easy install.
-Very easy, yeah.
-Yeah, this looks really good.
-Changes the whole look of this room.
-And again, it comes right off if it's time to move it out of here.
-That's way more convenient than painting.
-Well, this is the last of our projects, and it looks fantastic.
Now onto finishing touches.
-Let's go.
-Excellent.
-All right.
The wall-of-fame pennants created earlier are being stapled to the wall.
The pennants are lightweight and easily held in place.
The fly balls were attached to the sky-painted board with fishing line inserted through a small hole.
We're using screws to attach the board to the ceiling by drilling directly into ceiling studs.
♪ We've replaced the corded Venetian blinds with cordless shades.
Window cords can be a hazard for small children.
We'll also add valances overtop for a dressier look.
♪ Finally, our wall of fame goes into place.
♪ So, you two have worked really hard.
You put a lot of hard work into those projects.
What are you most looking forward to seeing?
-Yeah, I just want to see it all together, see how it all turned out.
-Well, if you are ready, you can go upstairs and check it out.
-Okay.

With the gridiron rug, our little guy will always be in the game.
Schrita and Shante worked hard to create many special projects that complements the tone of their family.
Sports brings their family together with Zach and now baby Bryson, and allows every family member to dream big and play together.
-The little baseballs.
