Because of the riots during the 1960's, many buildings where torched. The fire department had to retrain their employees on how to handle buildings in the neighborhood. But, because of the riots, church organizations were able to buy some of these buildings and help rebuild the neighborhood into a great community. The pillars that once ensured segregation, are now a sign of diversity.
