In 1846, U.S. soldiers set out to conquer Mexican territory and Pres. Polk sets aim on Mexico City.
In June of 1846, an army of 1600 soldiers begin a 900-mile march to conquer the Mexican territory of New Mexico. In California, U.S. settlers revolt against Mexico. When Mexico refuses to surrender, U.S. President Polk turns his attention to the "Halls of Montezuma," Mexico City itself.
