Squeeks: Hey!

Hal: Wait a minute - I'm a- a mammal?
I thought I was a dog!
This changes everything.
Daisy: Hal, mammals are just animals who feed on their mother's milk when they are babies and have hair or fur on their bodies.
You're a mammal and a dog.
Hal: Oh thank goodness!
I'm back, baby!
Squeeks: Listen, if I know bats, they're just as bummed about being stuck inside as you are about them being stuck inside.

For once.

Martin: You know, the Wild Batts!
Chris: I'm Chris!
Martin: and I'm Martin.
Daisy: Chris and Martin!
Nice to meet ya!
You know, you guys seem really familiar.
Ronald: What are you Batt Brothers doing in my cat cave?
Martin: Well, we really like what you've done with the ceiling there are lots of dark, cozy corners where we can sleep during the daytime.
Ronald: Wait a minute... y- you want to live here?!
Chris: Actually, no.
We'd much rather be living free and in the wild!
Martin: But it's getting harder and harder for us out there.
Chris: The tree where we sleep was chopped down the other day.
And that's not the first time that's happened.
Martin: And in the winter, people disturb the caves where we hibernate.
If we wake up, we've got to eat.
You try to find bugs in the middle of winter!
Chris: Yeah.
So there aren't a lot of Indiana Bats like us anymore.
We're endangered.
All: (gasps) Squeeks: Okay.
(clears throat) Do you hear that, Ronald?
The Batt Brothers are endangered, okay!
Martin: When we saw that open window and all these wooden beams it reminded us of our tree so we came in to roost for the day... Chris: ...but when we tried to leave tonight, the window was closed!
We were trapped.
Ronald: Well... um...
I'm sorry about that..
But you have to admit that you're pretty scary looking.
You have those big, pointy ears and those hairy wings!
Hm!
Martin: Oh and you probably think we'll get tangled up in your fur, too.
Look, we're not scary.
We're just bug eaters, who are also super flyers.
Chris: And check this out... these wings are more like hands.
Nature Cat: Hands', you say?
Martin: That's his thumb!
Great for helping him climb.
Chris: These babies make us the most super skilled flyers around.
Squeeks: Seriously?

Martin: Better.

Martin: Yeah!

Chris: Ha ha, you know it, bro!
Nature Cat: And have no fear!
We shall find The Batt Brothers a safe place to roost before the sun rises!
All: Ta daaaaaaa!

Nature Cat: Chris and Martin, welcome to your new sleeping place!
Chris: Uh... this is a bird's nest.
Squeeks: We made it for you!
Isn't it nice?
Chris: Well, um... that's nice but birds use nests to raise their baby birds and not really to sleep... Martin: And we're not birds!
Chris: What Martin is trying to say, is that we need a place where we can hang upside down while we sleep.
Nature Cat: Gotcha!
Upside down while you sleep.
We're on it!
All: Ta daaaaaaa!
Tahdeee!
Squeeks: Look at all the upside down potential on this bad boy!
Chris: Um... we do need to hang upside down, but we also need someplace dark to sleep during the day.

Nature Cat: Ughh ho oh!
What's wrong this time?!
Chris: Weeeeellll... Martin: This is way too big.
We need something small and cozy.
Nature Cat: Ugh!
We've been up all night and we still don't have a place for you to roost!
(Bats yawn) Nature Cat: If only there were some sort of structure that is dark... and cozy... ...with places for bats to hang upside down... Daisy: There is!
Daisy: This is a bat house.
It's a cozy, dark place that bats can sleep in.
Oh look!
There's even instructions on how to build one!
Daisy: Man oh man!
Building a bat house is gonna be a big job.
Squeeks: Let's do it!
Chris: But it's almost daytime.
We need a place to sleep right now.
Ronald: (yawns) What a good night's sleep.
Ronald: Wait a minute!
Did you not find a place for Chris and Martin Batt to sleep?
Nature Cat: Nope.
So I guess they're just gonna have to stay in your cat cave for another day.
Ronald: Awwwwwwe!
Come on!
Chris/Martin: Hey thanks!
Alright!
Ronald: So?
Where do we begin?
I want those Batt Brothers out of my cat cave pronto!
Daisy: Building a bat box is a big job.
You know what that means... We need to call in some help!
Granny Bunny: Hello, sweetie.
All: Granny Bunny!
Granny Bunny: I came as soon as my Daisy called.
Granny Bunny: Oh now let's make a bat box!
Granny Bunny: Your Batt brother friends will use these grooves to help them climb in and also hang upside down while they sleep.
Daisy: Now that's groovy!
Nature Cat: It's going to be so cozy and warm inside this bat box.
Granny Bunny: Oh very nice, Squeeks That caulk will keep out the rain so your friends stay nice and dry.
Granny Bunny: Hang in there, Ronald!
Almost done!
Granny Bunny: Now help me stand this last bad boy up!
Nature Cat: Here we go!
Woo-hoo!
Daisy: Those are some sweet bat boxes!
Granny Bunny: Ahh, finally!
Ronald: Its about time.
Nature Cat: Wow.
We did it!
Granny Bunny: Oh, now your bat friends have a cozy, dark place to sleep during the day.
Daisy: Thanks, Granny Bunny!
Granny Bunny: Oh anytime, Daisy dear.
Granny Bunny out!
Chris: Whoa!
Look at that bat box, bat bro.
Martin: This place is fantastic!
It's so dark!
(laughs) Just like being tucked into some bark on a tree.
Daisy: And your box is in the sun so it will heat up during the day and keep it nice and warm!
Squeeks: And we put it near water so you'll have plenty of bugs to eat, but far enough away from trees to help keep you safe from predators.
No expense was spared.
Chris/Martin: Mmmm... bugs.
Chris: Predators keep out!
Nature Cat: And we made extra boxes to help more of the neighborhood bats.
Like Daniel Bat, Peg plus Bat, George the Curious Bat...oh and the Bat and the Hat!
Chris: Thanks, everyone.
This is the perfect place for us to hang.
Ronald: Finally!
My cat cave is no longer a bat cave!
See ya, Wild Batts.
All: Yawn Daisy: It's been a loooong day.
We'd better get some sleep.
Chris: Good night!
Come visit us soon.
Nature Cat: Will do!
Goodbye Chris and Martin!
Chris: And don't forget - Chris/Martin: Keep on nature adventuring!!!

Wait, you guys hear that?
Brooks: Ow!
Ow!
Ow!
Hal: Uh oh, baby, sounds like someone's hurt!
What do we do, Nature Cat?
Nature Cat: We must help, of course!
Come on gang!
Brooks: Ootch!
Oo!
Ow!
Ow!
Ow!
Nature Cat: Good morrow, my avian friend.
My name's Nature Cat and these are my esteemed colleagues, Squeeks, Daisy and Hal.
Hal: Hi, little birdie.
I'm Hal!
Is there anything we can do to help?
Brooks: Oh thanks Hal, but I don't think so.
I'm Brooks, by the way.
I'm a Baltimore Oriole, if you were wondering.
Hal: Thanks, I actually was wondering, just then, that's what I was doing.
Wondering.
Squeeks: Ey yo Brooks, what's up with the wing, man?
Brooks: (Sigh) Wouldn't you know it, I flew into one of those pesky windows.
I couldn't see the glass.
We birds have such a terrible time with window glass.
Squeeks: Oh man, that's a total drag.
What'cha think Dais?
Daisy: One moment, please... Daisy: Okay...Brooks, a few questions.
Can you hold your wing out like so?
Brooks: No.
Daisy: Uh huh... And on a scale from 1 to 10, how bad is the pain?
Brooks: Uh?
7?
Daisy: A, 7, okaaaay.
Mmhm, mhm, mhm.
Ohh.
Nature Cat: What is it, doc?
Daisy: In my professional opinion you have hurt your wing.
Brooks: How long before I can fly again, Doc?
With proper rest, I'd say you'll be up and flying in about, a few weeks.
Brooks: A few weeks!
I can't wait that long!
The days are getting shorter and the weather's beginning to change.
I need to get to my winter home in the south!
Daisy: Well, you can stay with me, Brooks.
I have plenty of room.
Brooks: Thanks Doc, but what would I eat all winter?
Squeeks: Well, how about some...cheeese?!
Check it out!
I've got cheddar, and gouda, and Monterey Jack, emmental, brie, and...for good measure of course...a stracciatella.
Brooks: Thanks Squeeks, but uh, cheese is not really my thing.
Hal: How about some of my extra special, extra yummy bones?
Brooks: Oooh, thanks, Hal.
Eh, but I think I'll pass.
Nature Cat: But we just put up the bird feeders and filled them to the brim with bird seed.
Won't they help feed you through the winter?
Brooks: Awe, thanks guys.
Bird feeders really do help us birds.
But, I eat insects, fruit and nectar from flowers.
And that food is harder to find in the winter.
That's why I go south.
It stays like summer when it's winter here, so I can find food I like to eat.
Brooks: Besides, it's harder for me to handle the cold.
I'm not like my feathered friend up there.
Daisy: Oh, would you look at that little cutie!
Brooks: Cute?
Are you kidding?
He's awesome!
Snow, ice, wind, hail!
He can handle anything!
Chickadees were made for winter!
Chickadee: You know me!
Tough as nails!
Hrrr!
Brooks: Yeah, for the past few weeks I've been feasting on insects and fruit to get ready for my long flight south.
Need lots of extra energy to build up my muscles and grow these flight feathers, see!
Brooks: I've molted away the old ones.
Nature Cat: What mean you by molted?
Brooks: Oh you know, kinda like how you shed your fur.
Yeah, see these babies.
They're brand, spanking new!
Hal: Ooooo, they're so new and shiny and feathery and pretty and all at the same time!
Brooks: Yeah but it's no use.
All my preparations were for nothing.
I'll never fly South now.
Brooks: Hey!
Maybe I don't have to fly!
Maybe, I can walk instead!
Yeah let's see... (mumbles to himself) Brooks: ...and it will only take me... 15 years to walk all the way there... Oh no, that's not such a good idea, after all!
Daisy: Hang on, Brooks.
Maybe I can find you a bus to take ya South.
Where did you say you're were headed again?
Brooks: Honduras.
Yeah that's where I've been going all these past few years.
Nature Cat: Honduras?
Not familiar with that town.
Is it across the woods?
Daisy: Nature Cat, Honduras isn't a town.
It's a country clear across the Gulf of Mexico... over two thousand miles from here!
Hal: Oh!
Well I guess we can't use the wagon then.
Squeeks: Honduras?
Why that's a world away.
Why do you have to go so far, Brooks?
Brooks: That's just what we Baltimore Orioles do before winter comes.
It's called migration.
Yeah and lots of other kinds of birds do it, too.
Even little, tiny hummingbirds!
Nature Cat: Well why don't you just live in the South all year round?
Brooks: Coming up north for the summer is great for raising our young!
The days are long, the weather is warm, and there is plenty of space for nesting and plenty of food.
Nature Cat: Then we must get you South, Brooks!
Squeeks: So how're we going to get Brooks to this Honduras place?
Hal: Yeah, Nature Cat?
How?
I mean we have to figure this out!
We have to!
Brooks is our friend, and like my mommy always says, friends help friends!
That's what she says, really, she does.
Nature Cat: Friends you say?
Hmmm...That's it!
Hal you're a genius!
(mwah) Hal: Okay, that's been clearly established in earlier episodes.
The fans know this, guys.
I'm a genius.
Come on.
Nature Cat: Hal is right.
Friends do help friends!
And I, Nature Cat, solemnly promise that "we" shall help our friend Brooks travel safely to his winter home, in Honduras!
But to do this, we'll need help.
The help from one of our most special friends!
Houston: Hello Nature Cat, I hope this meets your specifications.
The Gang: Ooooooooohhh!
Houston: May I present the Ultra-Flight 3000.
It is solar powered, with a super capacity battery, so there is no need to stop or refuel.
How you like me now, huh?
Nature Cat: Houston, you've outdone yourself yet again!
Squeeks: Okay so, Nature Cat, as you can see, once we reach the Florida Panhandle, it's up to you to fly us safely across the Gulf of Mexico.
Nature Cat: Huuh.. okay...interesting plan... just one thing...That's a lotta water we're flying over!
Squeeks: Whoa, Brooks.
You really fly the Gulf non-stop?
That seems impossible cause you're so small.
Brooks: Twice a year!
Spring and Fall.
Hal: It's like you birdies are like mini, super heroes!
Brooks: Yep, we're mini-super heroes, dodging obstacles that seem to increase each year.
Tall buildings, busy roads, bright lights, bad weather, can all make our journey even more difficult.

Oh!
This thing rocks!
Maggie: Hi Brooks.
Thought that was you.
Maggie: Hey, what happened to your wing?
Brooks: Oh, hi, Maggie.
Oh, uh, this?
Yeah this is long story.
Hey, uh, you need a lift?
Maggie: Thank, Brooks, but I got this.
See ya!
Daisy: Says here the place you spend your winter is just a few hours away!
Brooks: Yeah it's so wonderful there!
So beautiful!
A forest canopy with other plants and animals and birds.
I love it there!
I think you'll love it too!
Nature Cat: Ahh, fresh air!
Glorious sunshine!
An ace pilot!
Nothing can stop us now!
Nature Cat: Gotta stop saying that...
Nature Cat: Well, at least this trusty wing will keep the rain off our heads.
Squeeks: Grand.
Just grand!
Nature Cat: (shivers) Nature Cat: Water, why does it always have to be, water?
Gang: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Hal: Phew!
Brooks: Excuse me, uhh, Captain.
No offense, but I do believe we're drifting a bit off course.
Houston: Triple Zero Niner, you are veering off course!
Repeat, you're off course, over!
Daisy: Oh no, Nature Cat.
We're headed out to sea!
You've got to steer us hard to Starboard!
Nature Cat: Starboard?
That's right, right?
Or is the that left, right?
Wait!
I'm so confused!
Squeeks: It's to the right!
Gimme that thing!
Squeeks: Oh rats!
This can't be good.
Um...here's this...
Nature Cat: Uh!
What now?
I have no way to steer!
Lola: Hey, Nature Cat!
Nasty weather back there, huh.
How can we help?
Nature Cat: Oh Miss Flamingo!
Are we ever glad to see you!
We have to get our friend, Brooks to his winter home in Honduras.
Lola: Ok Nature Cat, leave it to us.
Come on ladies!
Let's get these guys to dry land.
Brooks: So what'd I tell you, huh?
Isn't this place amazing!
Look at all the beautiful trees and plants!
Thanks for the ride, Nature Cat!
You are one fantastic pilot.
Nature Cat: Hu-oh!
You are most welcome, my good bird.
But honestly, I couldn't have done it without the help of my friends.
Hal: But, but, when will we ever see you again, Brooks?
I don't want to say goodbye!
(gasps) This is too sad!
Brooks: Well, don't worry Hal.
I'll see you in the Spring when I migrate back.
Maybe you can leave out a few orange slices for me?
Hal: Really?
You come back again to our backyard?
Brooks: With all that great food you have in your yard, and the trees for nesting, yeah I'll be there!
Brooks: Woo, hey look!
I think my wing is healing nicely!
Brooks: Hey Merle!
Hey Tammy!
Tammy: Welcome back, Brooks!
The bugs are so tasty this year!
Mm!
Mm!
Squeeks: Uh, Guys.
Uh, I don't want to spoil the party, and all.
But how're we gonna get home?
Daisy: Oh, hi Houston...uh we need a little favor.
Houston: What can I do you for ma'am?
Over.
