THIS WEEK# IS THE LONGEST DAY OF THE YEAR THAT DOESN’T MEAN WE CAN’T EXPLORE THE NIGHT SKY.
ALL WEEK IN THE WEST YOU’LL# SEE THREE BRIGHT PLANETS IN THE WEST FOLLOWING THE SETTING SUN VENUS, JUPITER, AND LIL’ MERCURY.
EARLY IN THE WEEK THEY’LL# BE JOINED BY A GORGEOUS CRESCENT MOON!
ALIGNMENTS ARE COOL, BUT HAVE YOU TRIED# STARS!
WHEN IT GETS A LITTLE BIT DARKER LOOK FOR THE BIG DIPPER, THAT’S# PART OF URSA MAJOR THE GREAT BEAR.
USE THE HANDLE OF ALIOTH, MIZAR, AND ALKAID, FORM AN ARC - AND YOU CAN ARC TO ORANGE ARCTURUS# IN BOOTES THE HERDSMAN.
BOOTES’ BODY LOOKS KIND OF LIKE A KITE STRETCHING UP INTO THE# SKY WITH TWO LITTLE TAILS FOR HIS LEGS.
IF YOU KEEP GOING PAST ARCTURUS, YOU# CAN SPIKE ON TO BRIGHT BLUE SPICA, BRIGHTEST STAR IN VIRGO THE MAIDEN.
IT MARKS ONE# OF THE CORNERS OF THE GIANT DIAMOND ASTERISM.
