Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship[bright music] - Hi, everyone.
Welcome to my classroom.
I am Miss Zoe.
And today, we have a really fun activity.
Today, we are going to include movement, like exercises, with time.
And with time, we're gonna work on understanding hours, and this is my analog clock.
And then, [clipboard scraping] [cheerful music] we are going to write it also on our digital clock.
The digital clock kind of looks like this.
You may see these at home with your alarm clocks or on devices at home.
So we don't see analog clocks as much anymore, but it's super important that we know how to use 'em.
You may see them in your school.
In our classroom we have analog clocks and in our building.
So today, let's take a look at our clock.
And if you see here, we have red numbers that go all around and smaller blue numbers that go all around and these little notches that come out on our clock.
We also have a long blue hand that moves and a shorter red hand that moves.
Our blue hand represents minutes, and our short red hand represents hours, and there are 60 minutes to an hour.
So the minute hand would slowly go around until it hits the number 12, which is 60 minutes, which means it's a new hour.
So if you take a quick look, if I move the blue hand around the clock, you'll see the hour hand slowly moving.
And when it gets to 60, it's a new hour and it's two o'clock.
This would be three o'clock, four o'clock, and it goes on.
So today, we are going to pick a time and then a movement card.
And so if I say, this is four o'clock, on our digital clock, it would look like this.
[marker scraping] [cheerful music] Four o'clock.
If I chose, this time, can you tell me what number the short red hand is pointing to?
Eight.
That's right.
So it's eight o'clock, and that would look like, [clipboard sliding] [marker scraping] [cheerful music] Eight o'clock.
So if I pick eight o'clock and I pick this card, that means I would do, [clipboard sliding] [clipboard thudding] eight jumping jacks.
Let's try another one.
Can you tell me what number the red hand is pointing to?
That's right.
It's pointing to a five.
And if you're not sure, you can count, one, two, three, four, five.
It's five o'clock, and that looks like, five o'clock.
[cheerful music] Then I would pick another movement card.
Let's say I picked this one.
[chiming music] [clipboard scraping] That would mean I would do five hops on one foot.
Then we have squats, sitting on a chair, we will do floor presses.
So today I have, - Melena.
- And?
- Anya.
- And don't mind their pajamas.
Today at school, it's pajama day.
But we're, today, I told you earlier that we're going to include time and movement, and my helpers here?
They're gonna be in charge of the movement.
[upbeat music] So Anya, what time is this?
- Six.
- [Zoe] Six o'clock.
There we go.
Six o'clock.
Are you ready?
They are going to do six squats.
Ready?
Go.
- One, two, [upbeat music] three, [child chattering] four, five, six.
- [Zoe] Great job.
All right, Anya, lets see if you can tell me what this time is.
- [Anya] Nine.
- [Zoe] Nine o'clock.
Great job.
[upbeat music] Here is nine o'clock and we are going to do nine of?
- Hop on one foot.
- [Zoe] Hop on one foot.
All right, here we go.
Nine hop on one foot.
- One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine.
- [Zoe] All right, I love, Anya, how you got right back up and kept going.
All right, here we go.
Let's see.
Ready?
What time is this?
- Two o'clock.
- [Zoe] Two o'clock.
Here's our two o'clock.
And you are going to do two?
- Jumping jacks.
- [Zoe] Jumping jacks.
Ready?
Go.
- One, two.
- [Zoe] All right, Anya, what time does this say?
- Seven.
- [Zoe] Seven!
Here is seven o'clock.
You are going to do seven - Floor touching.
- Floor touches.
Go.
- One.
Two.
Three.
Four.
Five.
Six.
Seven.
- All right.
Great job.
All right, friends.
So you can pick any exercises at home if you wanna play this game.
I hope you had fun.
Did you guys have fun?
- Yeah.
- Yeah.
- Yeah.
I hope you guys have a great pajama day today.
All right, friends, thanks.
- [Group] Bye.
