And about.
How old were you when you were in this group home?
Now, sex trafficking, especially of minors in the United States, is never really on my radar until recently.
Then one day, a young woman who had been trafficked asked if I would do a story about it, and I agreed.
But first, I wanted to hear her story.
What did you think when you first met the trafficker?
Well, to learn more about child sex trafficking.
I talked to three experts.
And I'm currently the consultant for L.A. Count and also the lead on our child trafficking leadership team.
I was in charge of the, vice unit dealing wit the issue of human trafficking.
Now, I am a victims advocate.
I'm the executive director for Saving Innocence, a 14 year old anti-human trafficking agency.
What is going on now that you want people to know about?
That the problem is bigger than most people think.
Human trafficking in our country is mostly made up from young little ones that are right here in our midst.
There is the trafficker, the buyer, and the victim, and the buyer looks like your next door neighbor.
You may see 30 to 50... young ladies out there.
You could tell that they might be 13 years old to 30.
That happens to young men.
That happens to our LGBTQ youth.
70% of young people, when they're either recovered or identified, are actually living at home.
But just ho the kids get trapped into this.
The answers may surprise you.
We'll learn more on the next edition of Bonnie Boswell Reports.
