Anoka is known for it's Fair grounds where motorcycle races have been drawing big crowds for decades. The big white fire engine is also unique to Anoka. The volunteer fire department has been busy since it was formed in 1857. Fires burned wooden buildings to the ground. After the fires, buildings were built with fire resistant materials like brick or stone.
