While working in the Los Angeles film industry, Steven Cowie wrote and directed an award-winning short film that he sold to the Sundance Channel. After moving to Knoxville, he was able to pursue his lifelong interest in the Civil War and spent fifteen years researching the Battle of Antietam. Steven spent three years writing his first book, When Hell Came to Sharpsburg.
