(logo whooshing) - [Rylee] "I Am a Rainbow."
- [Mom] My daughter Riley is three years old and full of energy.
She loves to read.
She already knows 10 sight words and is able to point them out.
- [Rylee] I.
- Pout for.
- [Rylee] Minute.
- Or two, then.
Sometimes I record Riley reading.
It improves her sight word recognition.
Recording your child while reading can also build comprehension.
And it allows them to hear their tone and pace.
When I play back the recording for Riley, I ask her to listen, follow along in the book and point out some of the words that she hears.
And what's this?
- [Rylee] A.
- [Mom] Brave.
I model this for Riley until she masters it.
I ask her if she noticed any mistakes.
Did her recording match the words she saw on the page?
If not, it's okay.
We can record as many times as she wants.
- [Rylee] "I Am a Rainbow."
Yeah.
- [Mom] Good job, Riley.
