I can't believe we get to see a total eclipse of the Sun today!
- I know, best day ever!
- Uh, what's a total eclipse of the Sun, again?
- Oh, Sunspot and I can act it out for you, Mindy.
Sunspot?
[boinging] Perfect, okay, you be the Sun, and I'll be the Moon.
Mindy, you can be the Earth.
- Goodie!
- So, the Sun shines its light all the time.
And you spin and spin as you slowly orbit around it.
- Whee, I'm spinning and orbiting!
- Meanwhile, I'm the Moon.
Orbiting around you, Earth-Mindy.
And look, when the Moon comes between you and the Sun, its shadow passes over you, see?
- [gasps] Look, the shadow's covering me!
- And when the Moon completely covers the Sun, it's a total eclipse.
- [squeaks] - Oh, so that's how it works.
