You know, a lot of times people don't realize that I need a doctor.
I'm Doctor DeAnn Bullock.
I'm the emergency department medical director here at Nashville General Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.
Some of the most common health issues that many of people in our community face, the biggest ones are gonna be diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, or what we call COPD, which is a disease very similar to asthma.
There are a lot of mental health issues around depression but probably the ones that top the list are diabetes, high blood pressure for our patients.
There's so many different opportunities to seek care in town, whether it be a urgent care, a primary care clinic, a hospital, a retail care clinic.
There's a lot of different places you can seek care but that also does depend on what your need is at the time.
If they don't have health insurance and they need medical care, there's a lot of different ways around that.
If you need emergency care, you should call 9-1-1 or go to the emergency department.
If it's something more routine, there are resources that we can access either on websites, some of the hospitals have different foundations that can give the people resources around where they can seek care, how they can seek care.
The state of Tennessee has what's known as TennCare for certain populations that qualify, and if they don't qualify for that, they can also find options around insurance in the healthcare marketplace.
I think some of the common misconceptions people have around healthcare are that they don't get sick or that if they go to a doctor, they're gonna tell them that there's lots of things wrong with them or that they have all these illnesses.
Sometimes it's just, it's not being aware that things can actually go wrong.
Sometimes there are different people that just relate differently to their providers and finding a place that you're comfortable with is really the most important thing because you're more likely to get your care and seek your care and seek routine care in a place that you're comfortable with.
