♪ MARTIN: Hey!
We'’’re here in North America CHRIS: Out west just before you get to the Rocky Mountains, in a broad, flat, expansive area known as the Great Plains.
MARTIN: And the habitat here is a grassland called the prairies.
It'’’s us, the Kratt brothers.
I'’’m Chris.
I'’’m Martin.
Quick, get down!
If you wonder why we'’’re hitting the dirt, it'’’s because we'’’re trying to sneak up on a certain prairie animal.
(Animal chirping) This animal is always on high alert, looking for danger.
The prairie dog.
(Chirping) Every prairie dog in this prairie-dog town will warn all the rest if he spots danger.
Then, everybody takes off to the safety of their burrow.
And there are burrows everywhere.
Prairie-dog pups!
More over there.
They can'’’t wander far, because a lot of predators would love to grab them, so they stay right there around the mound where they can make a quick zip to the hole.
Underground, they'’’re usually safe in a fortress of interconnected tunnels.
But there are predators who can catch prairie dogs, like coyotes.
These wild dogs can be very clever in their approach and grab a prairie dog before he can disappear down the hole.
Or a badger, who will sometimes dig a prairie dog out of its burrow.
Ooh.
Some kind of predator got a prairie dog right here.
A prairie-dog skull.
But the ultimate prairie-dog predator is the black-footed ferret.
This quick weasel with a black mask is an expert at chasing prairie dogs into their tunnels.
CHRIS: He has the ability to go down after them and race through the twisting, turning tunnels.
Imagine if we had the powers of the black-footed ferret.

Great!
Just putting the last tweaks on this digging invention-- something that can go through rocks and metal.
It'’’s not as easy as it looks.
It looks awesome!
And ready for testing.
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
How do you know it'’’s ready for testing?
Umm, well, because it looks awesome.
Well, I have to double-check everything in the morning, make sure all the controls respond properly.
Oh, and there'’’s one thing I forgot, too.
(Mumbling) Huh?
Oh, but I really want to test-drive it!
Don'’’t worry, bro.
It'’’ll be tomorrow before you know it.
Then we can take the Stone Digger for a spin.
Plus we have to be prepared, get organized and get everything ready.
KOKI: It'’’ll be better to try it out and explore the prairie in the morning.
Yeah.
(Yawning) And aren'’’t you tired?
Aw, I guess so.
(Snoring) (Sighing) I just can'’’t sleep.
♪ (Gasping) There'’’s no way I can wait until tomorrow.
I'’’ve got to test the Stone Digger tonight.
(Beeping) (Machine humming) Sure sounds ready.
I think Aviva was just being extra-cautious Whoa!
Yah!
Whoa!

Ahh!
Is the Stone Digger supposed to fly?
Gah!
Huh?
Wahh!
How do I stop this thing?
(Beeping) (Gasping) Okay, let'’’s just hope this Stone Digger can dig through stone.
(Buzzing) Wow!
Does this Stone Digger work or what?
Ha-ha.
Aviva is gonna be so psyched I tested it.
(Clanking and beeping) Whoa!
Whoa!
Ahh!
(Groaning) Aviva is gonna be-- Wah!
--so not psyched I tested it.
Ugh.
(Beeping) (Yawning) All right!
See, bro?
Told you morning would be here in no time.
Martin?
Hey, where'’’s Martin?
Oh, no.
He didn'’’t!
(Gasping) He did!
The Stone Digger'’’s gone!
He took it for a test drive before it was ready.
I had to run a diagnostic on the controls and align the rotor stabilizers.
Where'’’d he go?
And I needed to install an emergency transponder in case anybody got lost.
No worries, let me just call him on his Creature Pod.
(Creature Pod ringing) He forgot this too, so we'’’re not gonna be receiving any emergency calls from Martin either.
So where in the world is Martin?
(Zach cackling) I know but I'’’m not telling you!
Martin'’’s lost and the rest of the Wild Ratts don'’’t know where he is.
(Cackling) It'’’ll be fun to watch them search for him and never find him.
(Cackling) I want some popcorn.
Pop me a bag!
(Popping) Ahhh!
(Growling) Pop me a bag of popcorn!
Crash-landed creature calling Turtle Ship.
Come in, Turtle Ship.

Oh, no!
I forgot my Creature Pod!
Ohhh.
Did I hit my head and am I seeing things, or are you a black-footed ferret?
Ohh, I was seeing things.
I'’’d have to be really lucky to find a black-footed ferret, the most endangered mammal in North America, only around 750 living free and in the wild.
Ah, it couldn'’’t be.
Yow!
Yow!
Hahahaha, you are real!
A real live black-footed ferret.
Hoho, I can'’’t believe it'’’s you!
ZACH: Ewww.
I'’’m sick of cute baby animals.
Change the channel.
Let'’’s see what the others are up to.
So, we have zero clues about which way Martin went.
Oh, this is much better.
(Chuckling) That means we'’’ll have to split up and search in different directions.
I'’’ll go north.
East.
South.
West.
Come on.
First, let'’’s choose our adventure vehicles or Creature Power.
That speed of flight and those sharp eyes, there'’’s no better way to search than with peregrine falcon powers!
Activate Creature Power!
Woohoo!
ALL: To the Martin Rescue!
(Cackling) They left the Tortuga open.
This is too good to be true.
Almost forgot: lockdown.
Grrrr, I'’’ve got to find a way to break into that Turtle Ship, steal their technology and all their inventions.
I hope the blue brother'’’s done kissing baby animals.
(Laughing) Yuck.
(Laughing) Your black mask is really cool.
Whoa!
(Giggling) That tickles!
(Laughing) Hey, you stole my Creature Power disc!
And with the black mask, I just thought of the perfect name for you.
I'’’m going to call you Bandito.
I know we already named a raccoon Bandito, but you are Bandito the black-footed ferret.
Ooh, I wonder what black-footed ferret powers would be like.
(Chittering) Hm?
(Chittering) Is that your family?
(Chittering) So a family of black-footed ferrets live behind the ring of mountains I tunneled through where there'’’s a huge prairie-dog town.
And prairie dogs are the prey of the black-footed ferret.
Without prairie dogs, these ferrets can'’’t survive.
So this hidden prairie is the perfect hideout for the black-footed ferret.
Oh, hey.
Looks like mom is on the hunt.
(Squeaking) (Chirping) Whoa!
♪ Check it out, guys.
With that long thin body, the black-footed ferret can get into such tight places.
She can practically get into anything and go just about anywhere.
The black-footed ferret is so great at chasing through twisting and turning underground tunnels.
And she usually gets what she'’’s after-- a prairie dog, her main and only prey.
Oh, no, I forgot that I forgot my Creature Pod.
Nobody'’’s even seeing this.
ZACH: Oh, don'’’t worry, I am.
And now I have a great idea.
I can use these sneaky weasel thingies to get what I'’’m after.
I'’’ll capture them and make robber robots and send them into the Turtle Ship to steal the Wild Kratts'’’ inventions and secret technology.
(Cackling) And they already have little robber masks.
(Laughing) Wah!
Oof.
♪ I'’’ve got to find Martin.
♪ Oh, so they'’’re out searching for Blue Boy.
I'’’ll have to be very careful that I don'’’t lead them to Martin and my weasel thingies.
Engage cloud camouflage!
♪ Hey, Bandito, is it me, or is that weird cloud coming straight towards us?
One thing I learned about the weather is that clouds that act strangely usually mean Zach!
(Cackling) You found me out!
But I'’’m the only one who found you!
All your friends are searching in the wrong direction.
Well, uh, thanks for rescuing me, Zach.
Oh, I'’’ve got to admit I am surprised.
But I really appreciate you helping me out.
I'’’m not going to help you!
I'’’m going to take all those weasel thingies and leave you here!
(Cackling) Oh, no!
(Chittering) (Chittering) MARTIN: Hey.
Turn it off!
Leave those ferrets alone!
Stop!
I don'’’t want any of the prairie puppies.
Just the sneaky weasel thingies wearing the masks.
MARTIN: Hold it!
You can'’’t take these ferrets!
(Straining) Aah!
I'’’m going to use your animal friends here to make into robber robots.
And you can'’’t stop me because I have a new lockdown mode for my plane.
It'’’s impenetrable.
So you can'’’t get in and your Wild Ratts can'’’t meddle with my plans!
That'’’s Wild Kratts.
And I am gonna stop you before you lock down the plane by turning off your vacuum.
Whoa!
(Chuckling) That'’’s it?
Aren'’’t there any more?
There are so few because they are so very endangered.
There are only around 750 black-footed ferrets left in the wild.
This was an unknown colony.
Finding it made 756.
Well, now you'’’re back to 750, because I'’’m leaving.
Huh?
Whoa!
Oof!
No!
Hmmm, some mountains popping up in the prairies?
Something tells me that'’’s not natural.
It'’’s the same shape and diameter as my new digging machine.
I knew it!
There'’’s Martin.
Aviva!
Here!
Hey Aviva.
Haha, whew.
You found me.
I can'’’t believe you test-drove the Stone Digger before it was ready!
Even when I told you not to!
And you destroyed it!
It wasn'’’t ready!
I'’’m sorry, Aviva.
But it was ready.
It worked!
Look!
It drilled right through that mountain, see?
It took me to this hidden prairie where I discovered a new colony of the very endangered black-footed ferret.
(Gasping) Black-footed ferret?
I love them.
A new colony?
That'’’s incredible!
Where are they?
Uh, that'’’s the only problem.
Zach stole them!
(Gasping) No!
But they'’’re so endangered.
The new colony is all gone?
Mm-hm.
(Gasping) Well, all except this one.
Ay, que lindo.
His name is Bandito.
Oh great, a Creature Pod.
Hey, everybody, Aviva found me!
All right!
Right on.
Mission accomplished.
But now we'’’ve got a Creature Rescue on our hands.
Zach has stolen a colony of black-footed ferrets and flown off with them.
Black-footed ferrets?
Now we'’’ve got to find Zach'’’s plane.
He'’’s camouflaged as a cloud again.
♪ CHRIS: Hmm.
This could take a while.
I'’’ll use the amazing flying powers of the peregrine falcon to dive through every cloud until I bump into Zach.
Normal cloud.
Normal cloud.
Normal cloud.
Normal cloud.
Normal cloud...
Okay, Zach was bragging about how he had a new lockdown mode for his plane and that it was impenetrable.
We'’’re going to need a way to get in.
We might want to salvage the Stone Digger.
What?
Grrrr!
(Growling) Uh...
I'’’ve got some tape?
Grrrr!
You have no idea what it takes to put inventions together.
And we could also get some help from Bandito'’’s black-footed ferret power.
Awwww.
(Chuckling) Ah, yeah.
Feel like programming a new power disc?
Uh-huh.
MARTIN: Okay.
He'’’s got a long body that'’’s perfectly designed for scooting through the tightest places.
Even the twistiest tunnels can'’’t slow him down.
Ow!
And has sharp teeth because he'’’s a little predator.
(Chittering) What'’’s the styling black mask for?
Hehe, yeah.
That'’’s to cut down the sun'’’s glare when he looks out over the prairie.
Let'’’s program some creature powers.
(Chittering) (Laughing) You are one power-packed little creature.
Now put a weasel thingy in it.
I don'’’t really have to test it because my inventions always work perfectly.
But I like to.
(Beeping) Fluid and sneaky.
(Cackling) Normal cloud.
Normal cloud-- Oof!
Ohoho, I found Zach'’’s plane.
Oh, way to go!
You ran into a bird and messed up the plane again.
Get it off of my windshield.
Faster.
Get it off faster!
Oh-- oh-- Aaaah!
ZACH: Land this plane!
I want all the plane'’’s power diverted to production of the final four robber-bots!
Oh, I can'’’t wait to activate black-footed ferret powers.
AVIVA: Momentito.
I think I can actually salvage the Stone Digger as a hand-held device.
(Beeping) Hey, I found Zach'’’s plane.
Whoa!
And I'’’ve got a location for you.
Sending!
(Grunting) Way to go, bro.

You'’’re welcome.
(Groaning) To the Creature Rescue!
There must be some way in.
It can'’’t be totally impenetrable.
(Straining) Aha.
Hmmm.
All the vents have been sealed.
Something big must be going on.
Zach has really improved his lockdown mode.
I can'’’t find any way in.
AVIVA: Well if we can'’’t find a way in, we'’’ll make a way in.
And once we'’’re in, I know exactly how we'’’ll get around.
Assemble.
Assemble!
I present to you my newest invention, the... robber-bots!
I will send my robber-bots to sneak into the Tortuga.
First we will use your drill arms to drill our way into the Tortuga.
Okay, if we can get through this vent cover, we'’’ll have an entry point.
We'’’re in!
So you drill a hole that is this wide.
And that is how we will breach the outer shell of the Tortuga.
Wow, Bandito really wants to go!
Show a black-footed ferret a tunnel and he wants in.
And now for the second part of our plan: sneak through Zach'’’s plane and rescue the black-footed ferrets.
CHRIS AND MARTIN: Activate Black-footed Ferret Powers.
♪ (Chittering) (Chittering) Woohoo!
We have Black-footed Ferret Power now!
To the Creature Rescue!
ZACH: (Faintly) These robber bots will tap into the sneaky ability of these weasel thingies... Do you hear that?
...to crawl through tunnels.
Forthwithly...
It'’’s Zach.
Follow that sound, we'’’ll find our black-footed ferrets.
ZACH: ...and once that phase has been accomplished, I will release the Robber-bots into the Tortuga'’’s ventilation system.
They will sneak through the tunnels and all the while, the Wild Kratts will not know where they are.
(Cackling) This is a very important critical stage of my master plan.
Listen carefully.
No interruptions!
Let'’’s move.
These Robber-bots... That was close.
the Wild Kratt inventions and technology.
I have programmed them to target these things: Miniaturizer, Buzz-bikes, Cheetah Racing Thing, Amphisub, Butterfly XT.

Zachbot number five...
Stick with us and we'’’ll sneak you outta here.

You will go in first and canvass the area for any icky, gross, cute animals.

(Chuckling) Yeah, Zach didn'’’t even know we were there.
Yeah.
But let'’’s be quick!
Let'’’s return to the hidden prairie before we'’’re discovered.
So we are now at the moment you have all been waiting for.
It is time to deploy the robber-bots.
What?!
They are so sneaky, those sneakers!
Why didn'’’t you say something?
Where are they?
They sneaked off to hang out with the Wild Ratts?
Aw, forget it.
You can have '’’em!
Oh-ho-ho, what great creature luck!
Yeah, finding a new colony of the endangered black-footed ferret.
They'’’re cute with amazing creature powers to boot.
And should always be living free and in the wild.
And in the tunnels.
The black mask of the black-footed ferret makes him look secretive and stealthy, kind of like a robber or a ninja.
CHRIS: And on top of that, black-footed ferrets love to be active at night, when they can sneak around under the cover of darkness.
It'’’s their favorite time to be on the move.
And tonight, we'’’re going to put our creature adventure skills to the test as we try to sneak up on the rare and elusive and endangered black-footed ferret.
We'’’re looking for eye shine.
If there'’’s a black-footed ferret out here, his green eyes will reflect back at us.
CHRIS: We'’’re scoping out a prairie-dog town because black-footed ferrets eat almost nothing else but these big ground squirrels.
And a prairie-dog town is where the black-footed ferrets will be hunting tonight.
MARTIN: Eye shine!
We got one, right there!
I think he went down that hole.
Over here, Chris.
This is a great place for a stakeout.
We know he went down one of these holes, and now, we just have to wait for that black-footed ferret to pop up.
He could pop up that hole but he could also pop up out of that hole.
Bunch of holes around here.
He could pop up anywhere.
Because, you know, he works the prairie dogs'’’ underground tunnel network.
Chris, over here!
He'’’s periscoping!
CHRIS: Got him, got him.
Wow.
MARTIN: They don'’’t spend much time above ground-- really just running from one new tunnel network to the other.
Okay, he'’’s moving.
There he goes.
And down another one.
Down another prairie-dog hole.
CHRIS: A black-footed ferret'’’s long body is super-bendable and can twist through all kinds of turns in the tunnels.
MARTIN: Black-footed ferrets are high-energy hunters.
An individual black-footed ferret will eat about 100 prairie dogs a year.
So that'’’s about one prairie dog every three to four days.
Believe it or not, black-footed ferrets almost went extinct.
And one time, there were only 18 left in existence and a desperate rescue effort was put underway.
It worked.
Today, there are over 350 black-footed ferrets left living free and in the wild.
And their numbers keep climbing!
CHRIS: It'’’s proof that we can help and protect endangered species.
Keep on creature adventuring.
