The Ruff Ruffman Show!
With Blossom and Chet.
Yeah!
♪ ♪ Hello, viewers.
Ruff Ruffman here at the county fair, hoping to spot my action to the max-tion Ruff Ruffman plushie, which was recently stolen by a nefarious llama named Steve.
(gasps, screams) There he is!
There's my plushie!
So, my dear gentleman, you see a plushie to your liking?
Glen, what are you doing here?
This is my summer job.
That's awesome!
So you can just get my plushie down for me.
(chuckles) Ah, not so fast, Uncle Ruff.
You have to win the plushie first.
What?
But it's mine!
It's yours only if you win the Milk Bottle Pyramid of Doom!
Great.
Okay.
Here are the rules.
You have a choice of three balls.
You only have one throw.
You must knock down all the bottles to win.
The balls you have to choose from are: the pom-pom ball of disaster, the bouncy ball of catastrophe, and the softball of extreme scariness.
Pom-pom, bouncy ball, and softball.
Okay.
(Glen exclaiming) Choose carefully, Uncle Ruff!
You only get one try, so pick the most effective ball.
You must make a prediction.
A prediction?
Based on what you already know, what do you think will happen?
Uh, well, let's see.
Uh, okay.
I know that the lighter the ball, the easier it'll be to throw.
And I'm pretty sure that the lightest ball is...
The pom-pom of disaster?
Yes.
I therefore predict that the pom-pom will be the best for knocking down the bottles.
GLEN: Interesting.
You make a prediction, but you don't test the prediction.
I'm intrigued by your scientific process.
Well, I mean, I'm still... you know, I... No, no, no, no.
Please proceed with your one untested pom-pom.
Uh, well, actually, call Blossom.
Blossom, quick!
I need you to find prediction testers!
And hurry, before the bouncy ball of catastrophe brings catastrophe!
Oh, great timing.
BOTH: Hi, Ruff.
We can totally help.
We actually have balls here, and we're going to see which one is going to knock down the most bottles.
Well, that sounds great.
I could really use the help.
But how are you going to test this?
Well, first I have to make sure it's a fair test.
We can't just throw the balls.
Because if we throw the balls, we might throw one of the balls harder than the other.
I have an idea.
RUFF: Huh.
What is she up to?
Looks like she's tying the rope to a tree branch.
If we hang each ball from the end of the rope, and we swing it from the exact same height, it will be a fair test.
So we have a softball, a bouncy ball, and a pom-pom... pom-pom ball.
RUFF: Hey, wait a minute.
That's all the same balls I have to choose from here.
Huh, good thinking.
This is the pom-pom ball.
It looks like it's lightest.
This is the rubber ball, the medium heavy ball.
Last but not least, the softball.
I put some sand in these bottles to weigh them down, and I'm going to make a pyramid.
I'm going to stand in the same position and hold the ball at the exact same height every time.
RUFF: Good.
Number one, pom-pom ball.
Three, two, one.
RUFF: Go, pom-pom!
Uh...
Zero bottles knocked down.
Aww.
RUFF: Whew, good thing I didn't go with the pom-pom ball.
(chuckles) Okay, ball number two, which is the rubber ball.
And it's medium heavy.
Okay, here we go.
BOY: Two, one.
RUFF: Rubber ball.
BOY: Cool, one bottle.
RUFF: Huh, only one.
Cool-- looks like the slightly heavier ball hit the bottles with more force.
RUFF: That it did.
Okay, let's see what ball number three does, the softball.
And it's also the heaviest ball.
Okay, here you go.
BOY: Three, two, one.
RUFF: Boom!
Yes, awesome!
BOY: Amazing!
All the bottles.
RUFF: Perfect strike.
Oh, that was great.
Well done!
Well, Ruff, that pretty much decides it-- the softball is obviously the best choice.
RUFF: I agree.
I think it's because the softball is the heaviest ball, and the heaviest ball hits the bottles with the most force, even though I swung it from the same spot.
RUFF: Awesome!
Thanks, guys.
BOTH: Bye, Ruff.
RUFF: Bye, guys.
All right, Glen, we've tested my prediction, and it turns out my prediction was wrong.
The softball of extreme scariness is the most effective.
So here I go.
(drum roll) (grunting) (bell ringing) GLEN: You did it, Uncle Ruff!
You knocked over every bottle!
Which means you get the top prize-- the colossal crazy cat plushie!
RUFF: Wait, what?
No, no, no, no.
I just want my plushie, the plushie of me.
Oh, I'm sorry, Uncle Ruff, but it was just won by someone who said they wanted it for the catapult competition.
The what?
Plushie!
