Radio Read-a-Thon.
NARRATOR: As evening fell on Word World, Ant was winding down the day at his radio station.
Good evening, Word World.
Here's a bedtime tune everyone loves.
(record crackles) (slow lullaby playing) ♪ ♪ ANT (over radio): And don't forget, tomorrow is the big Word World Radio Read-a-Thon, so bring your favorite book down to my anthill and read it live on the radio.
Oh, the Radio Read-a-Thon is tomorrow.
I'd better get ready.
I have to do my tongue exercises.
Okay, here I go.
One.
(croaks) Two.
(croaks) Three.
(croaks) (sing-songy): Oh, Frog.
Are you ready to read to me?
(gasps) Duck, I'm in the middle of my tongue exercises.
Oh, come on.
Please.
Okay, Duck, let's put it together.
(chuckling): Oh, goody.
Here.
B-O... O-K. ♪ ♪ KIDS: Book!
(croaks) This book again?
Yep, it's my favorite.
Duck Saves The Day.
(laughs) Come on.
NARRATOR: Now this was Duck's favorite book.
He asked Frog to read it to him nearly every night.
"A mighty"... "Yellow duck"... (laughs, quacks) Go on.
"Saw his friend Frog"... "...was stuck down in the deep blue pond one sunny day."
Very good, Duck.
NARRATOR: Of course, as it was Duck's favorite book, Frog didn't actually have to do much reading.
Duck knew it all by heart.
Oh, I just love this book, Frog.
I sure wish somebody could read it tomorrow on the Radio Read-a-Thon.
Well... why don't you do it, Duck?
'Cause I can't read yet.
(cries) But you... (gasping): Hold on a second, Frog.
I'm getting an idea.
Ooh, and it's a doozy.
Listen, quack, quack, seeing as you're so good at reading Duck Saves The Day...
Uh... And it would be such a shame if everyone didn't get to hear the best book in Word World...
Uh... (gasping): Will you read my book on the radio tomorrow?
Please, Frog.
Quack, quack, please, please, oh, please, oh, please.
Oh... all right, if you really want me to.
Oh, thank you, Frog!
(laughs) Thank you!
♪ Gonna hear my book on the radio ♪ ♪ It's gonna rock, ooh-hoo-hoo ♪ ♪ Gonna hear my book on the radio ♪ ♪ It's gonna rock, ooh-hoo-hoo.
♪ All right, Frog, if you're going to read Duck Saves The Day on the radio tomorrow, we're going to have to practice reading it all night long.

(sighs) Okay, Duck.
(clears throat) Duck Saves The Day.
"A mighty yellow duck"... NARRATOR: So Frog and Duck practiced all night long.
The next day, all of Word World was tuned in to Ant's radio station for the big Radio Read-a-Thon.
ANT: Ant here on radio station WOID.
Welcome... to the Word World Radio Read-a-Thon.
Today, all our WordFriends are reading their favorite books.
First up is Sheep.
Take it away, Sheep.
(clearing throat): Grazie.
Am I on?
Check, check, check.
"Little Bo Peep has lost her," uh, well, "sheep and can't tell where to find them."
Now... "Can't tell where to find them"?
Can't... oh, oh, that's bad.
(stammering): I'm right here.
Here I am.
I'm, I'm he-here!
NARRATOR (chuckling): And so the Radio Read-a-Thon got off to a running start.
Next up was Pig.
"So instead of blowing the house down, "the Big Bad Wolf was invited inside "to join the Three Little Pigs for a delicious dinner cooked by none other than Chef Pig himself."
(giggling): That's me.
NARRATOR: Meanwhile...
Duck was getting Frog ready to read Duck Saves The Day at the Radio Read-a-Thon.
Let's read it again, Frog.
(wearily): "A mighty yellow duck"... Not like that, Frog.
Like this, like this.
(clears throat) (seriously): "A mighty yellow duck."
I'm tired, Duck.
Can I stop now?
Oh, but... (gasps) I know what you need.
You need some tongue exercises to get you just right, quack, quack.
I don't know, Duck.
Oh, yes, yes, you do.
You do, you do.
Come on, let's give it a stretch.
Let's see it, come on.
Oh, you can do better than that, Frog, quack.
(groans) PIG: Aah!
Oink.
Aah!
Oh!
(snoring) (gasps) (muffled grunting) (strained grunting) Huh?
(grunts) (Frog slurping) Hey!
(whimpers) (groans) (barking, panting) Oh, uh, good idea, Dog.
Go get Bear, and quick.
Oh, the Radio Read-a-Thon will be over soon and Frog has to read my book.
NARRATOR: So Dog went to get Bear, who came as quickly as she could.
(Dog panting, barking) Is Frog going to be able to read my book, Bear?
Uh, I don't know, he's pretty tangled.
This could take hours.
(gasping): Hours?
Well... then who's going to read my book?
Quack, quack, quack, quack, quack.
(muffled croaking) Oh, great idea, Frog.
Uh, Frog says you should read it, Duck.
Baah!
B-But you know I can't read, Frog.
(mumbling) What'd he say?
What did he say?
Frog says you know the story by heart.
(chuckling): Well, yes, that's true, I do.
But... so?
(croaking) You can follow the pictures in the book and tell the story.
Uh...
I don't know.
I'm too nervous.
(mumbling) He said it would be such a shame if everyone didn't get to hear the best book in Word World.
(gasps) I can't argue with that.
I'll do it!
That's the spirit, Duck.
Yeah, all right.
Okay.
Who's gonna tell that story on the radio?

I'm gonna tell that story on the radio.
Here we go, gonna tell it, on the radio.
Uh... good luck, Duck!
♪ ♪ NARRATOR: Duck was ready to tell his story by following the pictures in his book.
(clears throat) Ant, you are gonna love this book.
(sighs) Here we go.
Here we... Huh?
Oh!
(gasps, whimpers) Oh, Ant... Ant!
My book.
Oh!
What am I gonna do?
Huh, what...?
It's right there, Duck.
That's not my book.
Those are just letters.
No, they're not.
They're the letters B-O-O-K. Those are the letters in the word "book."
Oh, yeah.
Now I remember.
Just like when Frog and I did it.
That's right, Duck.
All we need to do is... ♪ ♪ ANT AND DUCK: ...build a word!
♪ It's time to build a word ♪ ♪ Let's build it, let's build it now.
♪ B... O... O... K...
KIDS: Book!
♪ Yeah, we just built a word ♪ ♪ We built it, we built it.
♪ Listen up, Word World.

Here to share with us his favorite story.
Duck Saves the Day.
NARRATOR: So Duck followed the pictures in his book and told the story.
(clears throat) "A mighty yellow duck saw his friend Frog was stuck "down in the deep blue pond one sunny day.
"Duck said, 'Frog, you're in luck.
'I'll help you get unstuck from in the deep blue pond so we can play.'
(snoring) "So with his great big truck, Duck pulled Frog from the muck "there in the deep blue pond.
Duck saved the day."
NARRATOR: And everyone loved Duck's story, especially Frog.

Yes, that's me.
F-R-O-G, Frog!
All righty, then.
(grunts) Well, there we go.
Have a "hoppy" day, Frog.
You, too!
(humming) Thank you!
Ooh!
I know what this is.
It only took me 200 cereal box tops, but it's finally here!
(excited gibbering) Let's see.
Attach the R to the O... to the B... to the second O, to the T. Okay.
R... O... B-O-T.
KIDS: Robot!
Yes, my very own robot.
Ooh!
How I've longed for this day.
Now, how do I turn this robot on?
Oop!
Here it is.
(clicks, whirrs) (beeping) Greetings, Frog.
Ooh!
Greetings, Robot.
Welcome to my log.
I'm so excited.
(buzzes) I, too, am excited.
I can be programmed for any task.
Oh, how nice.
Well, let's see... You might help clean up this mess in my room.
(vacuum hissing) (croaks) Wow!
That's amazing!
With you here, I'll never need to clean my room again.
How else may I help you?
Ooh!
Where have you been all my life?
(sighs) Until just recently, I was in that box.
Oh!
I can't wait to show you to my friends.
First, we'll go to Bear's cave.
(croaks) Come on, Robot.
Ooh!
This is magnificent.
Wa-hoo!
Bear's cave is thatta way, Robot!
Let's go!
We-he-he-hee!
NARRATOR: Frog and his robot zoomed toward Bear's cave.
FROG: Bear?!
In here!
Oh.
Hey, Frog.
Who's your friend?
This is my new robot.
(whispers): He does anything I ask.
Watch.
Say "Hello," Robot.
Hello, Robot.
See what I mean?!
Oh-ho!
This is great!
Watch this.
Robot, two hot chocolates, please.
(whirring) (beeping) (sizzling) Here you are.
(blowing) (slurping) It's delicious!
It's just right!
Woo-hoo!
Oh!
This robot is amazing!
Hooray for Robot!
BEAR: Woo-hoo!
Oops.
What was that?
Oh, just the letter S. I'll get it.
NARRATOR: Just the letter S?
Little did they know the letter S was quite a powerful letter.
(grunting) Oh.
Bear, that letter S is stuck to the end of your bed.
(creaking) (gasps) Oh.
Two beds?
Did the letter S make one bed into two beds?
All I know is, for bouncing, two beds are twice as much fun as one!
(cheering and laughing) The letter S at the end of a word makes more than one.
I never knew the letter S was so powerful!
(cheering) Let's go show Pig!
Come on, Robot.
(creaking) NARRATOR: The letter S was a powerful letter, indeed.
Frog wanted to show all of Word World his latest discovery.
P-I-Z-Z-A!
KIDS: Pizza!
Oh, yummy pizza.
Delicious pizza!
BEAR: Oh, hey, Pig!
What are you doing?
Oh, hey, guys.
I was just about to eat... who's the tin man?
Oh, Pig, this is Robot.
Robot, Pig.
Oh, nice to meet you, Robot.
Too bad I didn't know you were coming over.
I would have made more pizzas.
Oh, I can fix that.
Pig, may I have that pizza, please?
But this is my only pizza, Frog.
Trust me.
Robot, one letter S, please.
(whirring) We just add the letter S to the end of pizza to make pizzas.
Sweet!
Mmm.
One pizza turned into more pizzas.
With these wonderful S's I could make more of anything.
Anything I want!
More books.
More trains.
More inventions!
More of everything!
Come on, Robot.
Punch it, Robot!
NARRATOR: So, Frog used more S's to make more flowers... more trains... more cars... more of everything... What Frog didn't realize was that making more of everything could actually make more trouble.
PIG AND BEAR: Help!
Frog!
Help!
Help!
Someone please help us.
Up here!
Oh, my.
Pig and Bear are in trouble.
(gasps) BEAR: Help!
PIG: Oh, we're stuck on the leaning tower of pizzas.
Oh, no!
Oh, oh, what have I done with the letter S?
(gasps) Hang on, Bear and Pig!
We'll save you.
Robot, help me clean up these pizzas.
(vacuum whirring) Oh, it's no use.
There are too many pizzas.
Oh, we would need a bunch more robots to ever get through this mess.
(croaks) Wait, that's it!
We need more robots to get Word World cleaned up.
Frog, hurry!
I'll need one more letter S, Robot.
It's time to...
Build a word!
Build a word!
♪ ♪ ♪ It's time to build a word ♪ ♪ Let's build it, let's build it now.

KIDS: Robots!

(mechanical whirring) (gasping) (sighing) Land!

There's that letter S that's been causing all the trouble.
Robot, remove the letter S. (whirring) Phew!
Um, Frog, there's still a lot more to clean up.
That's right!
Robots, let's clean up the rest of Word World.
(mechanical whirring) NARRATOR: The robots cleaned up all the letter S's that had made more and more of everything.
(giggling) Phew!
You did it, Robot!
You cleaned up Word World!
Thank you, Robot!

(all sighing) Well, it's nice to have everything back to normal, Frog.
It sure is.
But I need just one more thing.
(sighs) What?
A nap.
NARRATOR: With all of Frog's letter S problems fixed, he could finally relax.
