- It makes me feel happy.
I think that's why they make smiley faces yellow, right?
The little smiley faces yellow 'cause it's just a big happy face.
- Yeah, I think so.
- It's yellow, definitely.
- That yellow shirt, you look happy today.
- Right?
I know, it makes me... How can you not feel happy when you're wearing something like this, right?
- I love it, I love it.

How does the color yellow make you feel?
- It makes me feel like full of energy, which is why I think the sun is yellow because the sun gives you energy.

That's so cool.
Yeah, that's why it's used on safety vests, taxi cabs, and on signs to get our attention.
Yeah, yellow is bright and warm, like the sun.
It's happy, like a smiley face.
Yeah, yellow is pretty, like birds and flowers.
And it's delicious, like lemons, bananas.
(Moby laughing) What things can you find that are yellow?
(bright music) - Oh my desk.
My desk is yellow.
That's fun.
Friends, it's time for today's one, two, three sentence story.
We are going to write a story in three sentences.
In the first sentence, I'll set the scene.
In the second sentence, there is a problem.
But don't worry friends because in the third sentence there is a solution.
So, where will this story begin?
Where will it take us?
It all depends on in the words from you.
Let's go to Nickell to find out the first word.
A person, place, or thing.

Which word are you thinking for today?
- Hat.
- Ooh, I love it, hat.

Okay, the story's got something to do with a hat.
Okay.
I put on my hat this morning and I went out for a walk to explore the neighborhood.
I like it.
Straight forward, simple.
We know I'm walking around the neighborhood, we know I've got a hat.
Ooh, what color will the hat be?
(Wimee chuckling) But oh no, there's gonna be a problem.
Let's see on the Wimage board how these words go to images as we explore our story.
Okay, the word flag will be the problem.
Okay, I got it.
Here we go.
I've got to my hat, here we go.
I put on my hat today and I went outside to explore the neighborhood.
As I was heading down to Main street, a flag floated from a spaceship and landed on me.
Oh no!
I added a detail that the flag is from a spaceship, and the flag is going to land on me.
No, I'm covered up.
I can't see anything.
Friends, how do we solve this problem?
We need another word.
It could be any word at all.
And it's gonna solve the problem because I'm covered up in a flag.
Haha, a lake.
(chuckling) Indeed, I love playing this game.
It's so fun because you never know what's going to happen.
Okay.
As I put on my, I'm gonna add a little details too, as I revise things.
As I put on my yellow hat, I went outside in the neighborhood to explore.
Out of nowhere, a spaceship flew by and a giant yellow flag covered me up.
I was close to the lake, so I invited the spaceship to go take me for a swim.
(Wimee chuckling) That'll work.
Yeah, I'm going for a swim.
That way I could use the, maybe the, it's like a big giant parachute flag.
(Wimee laughing and humming) Friends, we did it.
We wrote a story.
Wimage board.
We'll check with you in a little bit to see what you add to the story, to the design, to the adventure.
Maybe things from the show will continue to add to the adventure.
(Wimee laughing) Friends, we get to find out some words in Spanish.
For today's Language Explorers, Lucy is going to teach us some of the, I don't even know, I'm excited to find out.

I'm really excited to share with you today a book about my favorite star, the "Sun, One In A Billion", written by Stacy Mcanulty, and illustrated by Stevie Lewis, published by Henry Holt and Company.
While the sun isn't the biggest star or even the brightest star, it's definitely the most important star to us earthlings.
But I don't wanna ruin all the fun facts.
I'll let you learn all about the sun from the source in this wonderfully illustrated title.
And after the story, there is an interview with the star of the show, the sun.
Interesting facts about the sun, and more resources to learn even more about, you guessed it, the sun.
And if you like this book like I do, there are other books in the series too, including one on Earth, one on the moon, and another about Mars.
So be sure to check this book and the other books from the series out at your local library.
