- [Narrator] Meet Angel Morrow.
Angel is a senior at Carbon Hill High School and has a 3.89 GPA.
Angel serves on the yearbook staff and is in multiple academic and civic clubs.
- Angel came to us about four years ago.
She was a foster care referral, her and her sister.
Her mother had died about a month before.
She was being raised by her uncle, who DHR did not deem as able to care for her, so they were placed with us.
Angel is one of those who's always done everything that she's been asked to do.
She's a leader.
She wants to make good choices.
She wants to work and have a good future for herself.
- She's just inspiring to me.
There's a verse in the Bible, 1John 3:14 that says, "I have no greater joy than to hear my children walk in truth."
That's a personal verse for me, for her.
She's a joy to watch, an inspiration.
- She was one of the most resilient, compassionate, caring, hardworking, just grace-filled human beings that I've ever had in my room.
The world is legitimately a better place because she's in it.
- I'd read stories in the Bible about how God took these bad people and made them into good people.
And I was like, "I will just be a good person that God can use."
Good person with a bad past.
I've been studying at the Walker County Center of Technology in the Health Science Department.
When I graduate, I'll be a certified medical assistant and EKG technician.
- [Narrator] For overcoming overwhelming obstacles, to becoming an outstanding student and leader in her community, Angel is recognized by her school and our state as one of the five 2022 Young Heroes of Alabama.
