- [Narrator] Meet Emma Goggins.
Emma is a senior at Fort Payne High School and has a 4.37 GPA.
Emma is a member of the yearbook staff and is president of the student council.
She is treasurer of the key club and an officer of the fellowship of Christian athletes, and even has her own graphic design business.
Emma was born with cystic fibrosis, but she has never let that hold her back.
She is the leader of Emma and Eli's Dream Team, which raises money for CF.
- When I saw the email asking for nominations as young heroes, of course, Emma was the first name that came to mind.
The first person that came to mind.
When I think of a hero, I think of a leader.
I think of someone that really doesn't see a challenge.
And Emma is faced with challenges every single day.
And most people would never know that.
- I'm involved in a lot of extracurricular activities at school.
I'm a part of the student council.
I'm the student council president.
I'm also part of the yearbook staff, which I love because it's graphic design.
I love starting with a blank page and designing it completely unique.
I'm also a part of key club, which I love because it gives back to the community.
Sometimes it's really hard when you have serious health related issues and it can be extremely discouraging, but I just encourage you to push through power through never give up.
You can do anything you want to if you set your mind to it.
Surround yourself with people who are encouraging and wanna see you succeed and just never pity yourself.
Never doubt yourself, just push forward and stay strong and you can accomplish anything you want to even in spite of your health conditions.
- [Narrator] For her leadership, entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to serving others, Emma is recognized by her school and our state as one of the five, 2022 young heroes of Alabama.
