- [Narrator] Meet Joshua Wortham.

Joshua is a senior at James Clemens High School in Madison and has a 4.04 GPA.

He represented the United States at the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates and the International Youth Leadership Peace Summit.

Josh has been part of the band for his entire high school career and has won many awards and distinctions on top of being an entrepreneur.

He has accomplished all of this despite his and his family member's medical struggle.

- I learned about the Young Heroes Program through an email from APT.

When I read it, I saw the description.

It was academic excellence and commitment to the school and the community and involvement and having overcome an adversity.

And when I read it, I just thought that was written for Joshua.

- A huge thing that I've been really into was a quality for all people.

And I think it's like kept me driven to just always try to make the world a better place through like all these small, tiny little things, like cookies and stuff.

- When I heard Joshua was selected for this award, my reaction was, "Of course, he was."

He is the example of what this award entailed.

He is a hero, no doubt in how he acts, interacts with other students, how much he cares for other people, how hard he works, the heart he has for others in helping.

- I think it's, a hero is just somebody that goes out of their way to do something good or to help somebody.
