... truth in media ...

September 17,2003

FSTV (Free Speech TV) and World link are the only stations I have found that have no ties to corporations and thus allow truth in media.

Kathy, OR Strongly Agree

... Channel surf ...

September 17,2003

Isn't this a form of a monopoly? 5 large corporations own all the media outlets and they are all the same! Channel surf and about the only source that differs is cspan!

Arden, CA Disagree

... deal of diversity ...

September 17,2003

There never was a great deal of diversity in electronic media news sourcing. Things are about the same as they were when the big three dominated national news. The greatest loss is in news reporting in small markets. With increased number of sources there is more politicizing of news.

Dennis, WA Strongly Agree

... too much power ...

September 17,2003

Less choice. Big business has too much power. One person owning everything is wrong.

Gilberto, CA Strongly Agree

... continues to grow ...

September 17,2003

As big media business continues to grow, we the public will see less alternative viewpoints. The rest of the world has a viewpoint that differs from the "Americacentric" world view. If we don't open our eyes and ears to what the rest of the world is saying, we will be left behind.

Andy, OR Agree

... controlled by fewer ...

September 17,2003

The FCC can make remarks defending it's actions all it wants, the fact still remains that a huge amount of media will be controlled by fewer and fewer corporations that have their own biases and content preferences. Media helps shape society, so what happens a few powerful organizations have all the control over what people see and hear?

Ron, CA Strongly Agree

... sellout to major media ...

September 17,2003

There is definitely a fearfull agglomeration of local media toward a sellout to major media. I think the case is lost in the S.F. Bay Area. There are no more live local broadcasting efforts outside of the college stations. And this is the last liberal market in the U.S.A. It's just so sad.

Rita, OR Strongly Agree

September 17,2003

Radio is worse than TV. The lack of local coverage of emergencies is scary.

GREAT SHOW!

... "Clearchannel" controls ...

September 17,2003

There is censorhip when "Clearchannel" controls 45% of a segment of the American media. Preventing local channels from playing the Dixie Chicks is a clear example of "Clearchannel's" imposing its values on the public.
