“It seems as if the world has come loose from its moorings. The gap between how we see ourselves and how others see us has become a chasm, dangerously so.”
Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright

The stakes for the United States and for the rest of the world have never been higher. It is more important than ever that we understand each other and are able to communicate with each other. But America’s global image continues to slip, even among countries we traditionally counted as allies.

According to recent Pew research, two-thirds of Americans are aware of their country’s declining reputation, and most of them believe it is “a major problem for this country”. But do they know why? Do they know how to fix these negative perceptions, or even how to talk about them?

Global Watch hopes to fill this void by educating, connecting, and helping our viewers become more engaged citizens of the world through both the internet and through TV. As a companion to this TV pilot, Global Watch will create the interactive engagement tools on the internet to both initiate and continue this dialogue.

Global Watch focuses on how the world looks at the United States and its massive “footprint” abroad, and how that world view of America continues to change.

Global Watch will explore issues with reporters stationed around the world. In addition, Global Watch will present segments that will include opinions and views from other countries via the internet.
