I Am Canadian (Physics)

Damon Gambuto by Damon Gambuto     Department: Physics & Chemistry

Another day, another $50 million dollar donation from Canadian telecom billionaire/physics-benefactor Mike Lazaridis.

The founder and chairman of Research in Motion (RIM), Mike Lazaridis, has donated $50 million (on top of the $100 million he's already put up) to the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics  located in Waterloo, Ontario.   He is actually the founder of the institute, but he still gets full points in my book.  Not only is he wonderfully generous in his support of science, but he might be the cuddliest billionaire in the world.   Look at him holding his company's cash cow (and America's favorite technology addiction) the BlackBerry. Cute!

Nice work, Mike.  This Molson (ad) is for you.
