Let's Dwell On Design

Damon Gambuto by Damon Gambuto     Department: Technology

The Dwell On Design Conference begins tomorrow here in (not so) sunny Los Angeles and it looks to be a fantastic few days of talks, house tours, and exhibitions.  Oh, and did I mention that I managed to get my hot little hands on a FREE PASS to the event for a lucky Correlations reader?

Beginning tomorrow (Thursday June 5) and running through the weekend the DOD Conference + Exhibition is being presented by Dwell magazine (we'll call it my second favorite piece of print media).  It's entirely curated and moderated by the editorial staff of said magazine.  Normally, this is where I'd make a snide comment along the lines of 'those who can't write, edit' - but the manifest competence and joy that the editors at Dwell have demonstrated through the years keeps me from saying something like that.  (Or at least forces me to disavow saying it while saying it.)

I've taken a long, lustful look at the show guide and it's rather fantastic.  Mind you, this kind of stuff occupies way too much of my fantasy life.  I spend hours pouring over modern architecture and design sites imagining my untouchable-ecologically-friendly-cleanlined-modern-home perched in the hills above Hollywood.  But it needn't just be wistful, design-wannabes like me that take some time out of their weekends to tour the exhibition.  What's on offer is the future of home building and sustainable design.  This isn't some futurama/World's Fair exhibit.  These are actual practitioners showing of their techniques and wares.  This event isn't simply about imagining a possible future.  It is, quite literally, about building it.

I'll be following DOD for the rest of the week so stay tuned for more information, but in the meantime. . . FREE STUFF! FREE STUFF! FREE STUFF!

So I've been offered the opportunity to give away a free pass to the exhibition to one of our readers.  If you want to attend the conference, well then I've got a $50 discount for you.

To enter to win just drop me a quick email to:
correlationsblog@gmail.com  and tell me who you are and why you'd like to go.  It's not an essay contest so don't be discouraged if you edit magazines for a living.  Just a quick note will suffice.  I will announce the winner soon so check back in
