Kamala Lopez is an accomplished actress, writer, director and producer. A Yale graduate with a degree in philosophy and theater studies, Lopez has appeared in numerous films including “I Heart Huckabees,” “Love and Action in Chicago,” “Deep Cover” and “Born in East L.A.” Some highlights from her television career include; the Amnesty International-sponsored episode of “21 Jump Street,” for which she won the Imagen Award; appearing opposite Glenn Close in “Stones for Ibarra” and guest leads on the television series “24,” “ALIAS,” “JAG” and “Medium” among others. Additionally, Lopez continues to work in theatre as a member of the East L.A. Players, a repertory company of classically trained Latino actors and performers and with the sketch comedy group, Caught in The Act. In December 2006, Lopez completed principal photography on her feature directorial debut, “A Single Woman,” based on the life of Jeannette Rankin, co-founder of the ACLU and the first woman to be elected to the U.S. Congress.
