Your piece on cloned cows sounded like an ad for the dairy and beef industry. Suppose all milk came from one genetic type of cow and that type had an undetected genetic defect that allowed a higher level of carcinogenic pesticide to be passed in the milk. Then every drop of milk drunk by every person during his or her entire life would contribute to cancer. Besides, wasn’t it the all-knowing “scientists” of the FDA that allowed trans-fats to be added to our diet?

All milk coming from one genetic type is not going to happy. If it was, it is far more likely to happen through traditional breeding than cloning. All variation that we see (beef versus dairy cows, chihuahuas vs. german shepherds) arises from 'mutations'. The DNA in a cloned animal is not changed any more than the DNA in a traditionally bred animal. Finally, the FDA put limits on the trans-fat that was ALREADY in food. Trans-fat was not an additive that went through the FDA approval process.

Have there ever been found differences in how the biody functions in a clone as related to non cloned animals and if so what? there has been problems with cretin types of cannibalism

I found the segment to be one sided in favor of the cloning industry. Also, it neglected to address several important issues.

First, it did not address the issue of labeling. Why is the FDA, USDA and cloning industries so afraid of labeling products made from cloned animals and their progeny? If the technology is so great, shouldn't the proponents be able to convince the public that buying a steak labeled "from a clone" or from a "cutting" is OK?

Second, how does the milk production from the clones of Blackrose the champion cow compare to Blackrose? Like a champion? Or about average?

Third, have the cloning proponents held blind tastings comparing the meat from the clones of supposedly great animals with meat produced using standard fertilization techniques?

i wonder if their innate stupidity will make them nostalgic for the lack of market for this crap
