Place: Near Rockefeller Center, New York City
Time: 2PM Weekday

NEEDCOM:

How long have you been a panhandler?

RICHARD W:

Two days.

NEEDCOM:

For those two days, how often have you been doing it?

RICHARD W:

Maybe three times a day.

NEEDCOM:

About how many hours?

RICHARD W:

Maybe two hours. I have bone cancer, so therefore I have not been long in doing that. Just doing it to survive, get some money to get some food, and take care of my necessities.

NEEDCOM:

How much have you made per day?

RICHARD W:

Well, the average I ever have gotten is about eight dollars.

NEEDCOM:

Is this the place that you usually panhandle?

RICHARD W:

No, I just come by here today. I just came from a place to get some food. From the senior citizen's building where I get my food. I just walked down this way, and then I asked for some help. That's all, mm-hmm.
