The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) and PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) are pleased to announce that twenty filmmakers have been chosen to attend the ninth annual CPB/PBS Producers Workshop at WGBH, to be held in Boston the week of June 20-26, 2009. The goal of the Producers Workshop is to engage a new pool of diverse producers in public broadcasting. Producers were chosen based on their work experience, professional goals, video presentations, current production projects, and recommendations from industry professionals.

Judith Vecchione, Executive Director of the Workshops, said the Workshop application pool this year was especially strong, making the final selections very difficult. "Over 200 media makers sent in applications this year, and the evaluators all remarked on the high level of talent and exciting projects they brought. It's a reminder of how much producers value public broadcasting and are eager to be part of our work."

The Producers Workshop covers a range of production skills and draws on the expertise that has made PBS a recognized force on the American cultural landscape. The CPB/PBS Producers Workshops are open to public broadcasting station staff producers and independent filmmakers who are involved in, or wish to work in public broadcasting.

Recipients' travel and other designated expenses will be covered by the Workshop.
