Marvin Irby to Join PBS Board of Directors

ARLINGTON, VA; March 24, 2020– PBS today announced the election of Marvin Irby to serve as a member of its Board of Directors. 

Irby has built an impressive career across finance, hospitality, and the food and beverage industries, and currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer and Chief People Officer of the National Restaurant Association. Prior to assuming this role in 2010, Irby served as the Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer of Shawmut Design & Construction, held several financial VP roles for the Walt Disney World Resort, and served in various financial executive roles at PepsiCo. 

He has received recognition from a variety of leadership guilds, such as Diversity Magazine’s “Top 50 Under 50,” DCA-Live's “Top CFO” in both 2015 and 2018, and was named “2013 Non-Profit CFO of the Year” by Association Trends. 

His leadership at the National Restaurant Association resulted in its recognition as a “D.C. Top Workplace” in 2014. He also recently served as the Association’s Interim-President & CEO in 2020.

A native of Chicago, Irby received a bachelor's degree from Northwestern University and an MBA in Finance and Marketing from The Kellogg School of Management. In addition to serving as an active member of his church, Irby has served on numerous boards and works as a mentor in various capacities.

The 27-person PBS Board includes both Professional Directors, who are station leaders, and General Directors, who serve as lay members of the Board, as well as the PBS President. The PBS Board of Directors is responsible for governing and setting policy for PBS. PBS member stations elect the Professional Directors. The General Directors are elected by the entire Board, as are the PBS President and the Board officers.
