ARLINGTON, VA; June 29, 2026 — PBS President and CEO Paula Kerger shared the following statement today on the passing of Tony Brown, trailblazing host and producer of “Tony Brown’s Journal,” a long-running PBS news and public affairs show:
“We mourn the passing of Tony Brown, a singular force in public television who for nearly four decades gave his PBS audience honest and necessary conversations about difficult topics, from politics to race and culture. Like few others, Tony understood the power of television to shape how people see one another, and how they see themselves. We are grateful for his contributions, and for the high standard he set. Our thoughts are with his family and all who loved him.”
