It was passed down from my great-grandparents to my grandparents, to my parents, and then to me.
Along with the watch, they gave me my great-grandmother's jewelry box, which I store it in.
APPRAISER: You're not going to see a whole lot like this particular model.
It's a Cartier Ladies Tank.
This is circa mid-1970s The reason it's so unique, it was a limited production.
It's all pavéd in diamonds.
But what's unusual about this and all the other Cartier Ladies watches are from this collection.
What you'll see is that this is set with much bigger diamonds than normal.
This one has four pointers, five pointers.
Not only is a pavéd on the front and down the lugs, the side of the watch too.
What makes it more unique than the other Cartier Ladies gold and diamond watches is the crown is set with a diamond.
Typically, the crowns are set with a sapphire.
Also, you have the original presentation box.
One of the unique features of the watch is the animal strap on there.
Or do you have any idea what you think it might be?
GUEST: I was always told it was shagreen or stingray.
APPRAISER: There were quite a number of exotic type materials from animals that were used on these straps.
Now they do not.
They use faux lizard.
They still use some alligator, some crocodile, but most of them are not real.
These type of materials are now illegal.
Tell me about this little Louis Vuitton trunk jewelry box that you pulled this watch out of.
GUEST: I do know that my great-grandmother went into a store and purchased a set of luggage in the 1950s, including a full-size steamer trunk.
And this was on display.
It wasn't for sale.
And she was able to convince the store to give it to her because she had purchased the larger size steamer trunk and the luggage.
APPRAISER: What I see here is Cartier French company.
Louis Vuitton.
French company.
She liked everything French.
She liked good names, good quality, owning nice things.
this one in today's market, a retail price on that is going to be $10,000 to 12,000.
GUEST: Wow.
APPRAISER: The Louis Vuitton definitely we can place that as being about 1955 to 1960.
The details are incredible.
I've seen one, maybe two more.
GUEST: Wow.
APPRAISER: In today's market, retail on that $2,000.
GUEST: Wow.
