[music playing] Ozark used to be a huge farming community back when I was in high school at Ozark.
Probably 60% of the kids in school lived on a farm or came from a farm.
Very small number now-- we have a lot of kids that lived in subdivisions and work at fast food, so it gives them a chance to really come out and get a hands-on look at agriculture and what it really is.
It's as much about exposure to agriculture as it is really learning the production side of things.
I think it's really important for for kids to understand where their food comes from.
And agriculture programs play a huge role in that.
Growing up, FFA was something that I always kind of expected to join when I got into high school, and once I got there, I tried to take a hold of every opportunity that came my way.
The process of understanding what we do out here is not only affecting our lives, but the 2% of the population that does this work is feeding 100% of our population.
The knowledge that you can gain from this, even if you're not choosing to pursue a career in agriculture, is so beneficial in our lives.
Every student that leaves an ag education classroom is impacted in some way, shape, or form.
As we bring people onto the farm, our purpose is not just to create great farm employees or farm hands, but it is, at least in part, to create the next generation of farmers as well, so that that propagation continues out around the city, out into the Ozarks.
Where are those future farmers going to come from?
In part, they're going to come because we chose to live with our arms open and said, come on out.
Let's experience this together.
We'll teach.
We'll talk.
We'll learn, and we'll create more future growers.
I'm going into agricultural education.
So what excites me is really getting to put out agriculture, especially since agriculture is smaller than it's ever been.
To be able to teach that and to inspire these kids to maybe pursue a career in farming, or even any other agricultural career, would be just so rewarding.
I would love nothing more than to come here and raise our next generation up on this operation.
It may take a few years getting there, but in the end, I do hope to come right back here.
