Keith St. John | Coming Out to His Mother

Clip: Special | 54s | Video has closed captioning.

After leaving hints for his mother about his sexuality, Keith St. John came out to his mother on the phone in 1983, six years before he would become the first openly gay person elected to office in the country. She asked if he was homosexual since he was spending so much time with a man named Joshua that he had been seeing. Keith realized this was his moment to tell his mother.
