Ryan Ramdass, a community health worker, said he never had to explain to his parents who he was because he always was himself, with his supportive parents commenting that he was born with “ruby slippers.” Ryan compares his process of coming out to peeling back an onion. He talks about the gay bars in Albany being like “Cheers” where everyone there knows his name.
