Keith St. John Responded to an Ad that Changed US History

A recent law school graduate, Keith St. John moved to Albany and worked for the Legal Aid Society. He responded to a newspaper ad looking for help with a campaign and he was flattered to find out he was on their slate to run for office. In 1989, Keith became the first openly gay black person elected to public office in the country.
