Across television, digital platforms, podcasts, and community engagement initiatives, WVIA continues to fulfill public media's mission by producing original programming that reflects the people, history, challenges, and aspirations of Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania.

Throughout the past year, our production team created a diverse body of locally produced content that reached audiences of every generation while addressing issues of local and statewide importance.

Community has always been at the center of our work.

For the 15th year, WVIA proudly served as the presenting station for the Little League Challenger Exhibition Game at the Little League World Series.

Since 2011, this nationally recognized broadcast has celebrated athletes with physical and intellectual disabilities, telling their stories and their achievements.

The annual broadcast has become a defining example of inclusive storytelling and the power of public media to elevate every voice.

As Pennsylvania's population continues to age, WVIA expanded its statewide Aging Together in PA initiative with multiple original productions.

Bridges to Care explored practical issues affecting older adults, including financial scams, adaptive technology, Alzheimer's disease, direct care workforce challenges, and grandparents raising grandchildren.

Complementing the documentary series were statewide town halls, including Building the Future and Justice for All, bringing together policymakers, health care leaders, advocates, caregivers, and older adults to discuss solutions that improve quality of life while protecting vulnerable populations.

These broadcasts extended beyond television, serving as catalysts for public conversation and community action.

WVIA also continued its commitment to telling stories that build understanding across cultures.

Making NEPA Home followed four refugees and immigrants who have made northeastern Pennsylvania their home, sharing deeply personal stories of resilience, opportunity, and belonging.

Through thoughtful storytelling, the documentary celebrated the diversity that continues to shape our region while encouraging empathy and understanding among viewers.

Democracy and civic engagement remained a cornerstone of our public service mission.

Conversations for the common good, safeguarding justice through judicial independence, convened distinguished state and federal judges to examine one of the defining issues of our time, the importance of an independent judiciary and the rule of law.

The program demonstrated WVIA's role as a trusted convener, creating thoughtful civil dialogue around issues critical to our democracy.

Our long-running digital series, Via Short Takes, continues to uncover remarkable stories hidden throughout Pennsylvania.

Episodes explored everything from the day Carbondale literally stood still, to the mystery of Wyoming Valley ghost tours, and the unforgettable personality of Jumpin' Jeff Walker.

Special America 250 editions celebrated the Commonwealth's rich history through stories of Vietnam War hero Colonel Bob Graham, the historic Zebulon Butler House, the Susquehanna River, Pennsylvania's last water-powered sawmill, and the remarkable legacy of Jim Thorpe.

WVIA also celebrated individuals whose impact extends far beyond headlines.

A special edition of Keystone Edition honored legendary Lackawanna College football coach Mark Duda following his Parkinson's diagnosis and retirement after a career that helped more than 450 student-athletes advance to NCAA Division I programs and dozens reach professional football.

His story reflected WVIA's commitment to highlighting lives of service, perseverance, and community leadership.

Education and workforce development continue to be central themes in our program.

Careers at Work introduced viewers to software developers, firefighters, educators, therapists, and self-advocacy specialists, helping students and families explore meaningful career pathways.

Our continuing HIPAA at Work digital series connected regional employers, educators, and workforce organizations, showcasing opportunities that strengthen the local economy and encourage young people to build their futures here at home.

WVIA also addressed urgent public health challenges through Wyoming County Voices, Prevention Starts in Our Schools, to examine how early education and prevention could combat opioid misuse.

By partnering with local school districts and public health organizations, WVIA transformed broadcasting into community engagement with lasting impact.
