There is no way that this should not be allowed. Our country was founded on these beliefs, it is a tribute to our heritage among other things. We were and are established as a Christian Nation. This does not mean that we should discriminate aginst other people of religon, and they should not against the foundations of this country.

We have such highly intelligient and educated people as judges, it is absolutely amazing that this question should even be discussed.
For Gwen to ask a question such as " How would a Muslim feel if the 10 commandments were displayed" is a ridiculous question to ask.
If you were to travel to Iraq, Saudia Arabia, and other Muslim questions, those countries aren't worried about offending me!
I have traveled to several Muslim countries, and I EXPECT to see people praying several times of day in public, reading the Koran, etc etc. After all, why should I be offended, I am visiting their country- and that is the belief of the people in that country.
It is quite simple-Our nation, the United States was founded on belief in God-plain, simple, fact and constitional.
I think everyone, judges, congress, MEDIA, etc ought to go back to the KISS method. Everyone is getting involved in so much rhetoric it is absurd. Spend your time on other things, the economy, curing diseases, etc.
Highly intelligent people ought to get back to the basics. I would like to know where these judges have gotten there law degrees! Leave the decision up to the people of the USA-it is quite obvious THE PEOPLE of the UNITED STATES know the law better than the lawyers and judges!
And if people do not like the 10 commandments, then they should move to a country that fits their values.
Our country should start a fund- and send those people who so strongly disagree with the mentioned of "God"-send them for a year to China, Russia, Cuba- or some other countries, and you will see how quickly they will change their tune!
May God bless America!

The Bible plainly states for the people of the Lord to put The Ten Commandments at the entering of thy gates, isn't that plain enough?Christianity is not a religion, but rather a relationship with "The LORD"

This is not the God or religion of only "one" man but rather the God and faith that our country was built upon. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and His followers is constantly slammed these days. It is not uncommon that "one" person is crucified for his beliefs while others remain silent fearing virulent attacks.Whether silent or not;Freedom of speech is still prevalent in the USA EXCEPT in the case of Christianity and should NOT be forced to stay hidden, locked up in a closet.

I totally agree that the monument should be allowed in a government building just so long as that holds true to any religous monument, not just the ten commandments. For example if you have the ten commandments there you should also, if there is a desire, to have something from the Muslim faith or what ever faith be it Budism or what ever.

Separation of church and state is fundemental to our American traditions. It is one of the many great American traditions that separates us from other countries. Freedom to believe or not is one of our great strenghths -Just say no to DOGMA!

The first ammendment does not forbid the public expression of religious faith; it forbids the foundation or enforcement of a sectarian faith by the government.

I believe the Ten Commandments are a great concept, but the government should be more strict on separating itself from any religion.

Our Country was founded by Christians who believe in Jesus Christ. The Muslim God for example, is not the same God as the Father of Christ. Do I think we should allow anyone in our Country - yes. Do I think we should run the Country on a Strong Christian Faith - YES! Just because we allow people to live here with varying beliefs, they are coming to a Country that was started because of Jesus Christ. That doesn't mean that we have to change - why do you think our Nation has been so blessed by God and why Muslim or Islamic Nations (for example)are usually 3rd world countries. If we take God (Jesus Christ) out of this Country just wait to see it fall. It's not if, but when. I challenge you to Challenge God - ask him to show you who He is and if He's real - He will reveal himself to you - the true Living God. He loves you - won't you ask Him?

The courthouse does not belong to any religion. It is shameful to disrespect other religions by this blatant and wrong use of the courthouse. This country is home to all beliefs and even to those who have no religion. Judge Moore and is supporters are all unAmerican.

I strongly agree. Our nation was founded by men and women who believed in these commandments. We should be allowed to know what helped form our nation.

I believe the ten comandments should be placed everywhere. God gave us laws to abide by and they should be not only in the courts but also in police stations, schools, churches, parks etc...God is the same now as he was in the begining and so are his laws.

...
January 27,2004
|
A monument to the Ten Commandments should be allowed in a state courthouse. People make the argument that we shouldn't allow it because we'll be obligated to display monuments to the Koran or any other "religious" artifacts. That fear is misplaced, because the courthouse should display anything that uplifts the hearts and minds of the nation, whether the moral ideas come from Christianity, Koran, Buddhism or any other religion. And I know that monuments to atheist views, to communist views or to anything that goes against the good values of America will never be placed in our courthouses.

In the beginning was the Word and Word was with God and the Word was God. The the word came and dewelt among us. John 1:1 Then why would we want to get rid of the word (God) with us, when we need him more an ever? Because mens thought are evil God convicts them of this evil. Very Simple.

... MUST be kept truly separate
...
January 27,2004
|
Many of the arguments claiming that "God" was part of the philosophy of the founders draw from texts other than the Constitution. The Declaration of Independence and various writings and reported statements of the founders are NOT LAW. Only the Constitution and actual laws are. There is a huge difference (e.g. 1 to zero!)in legal force between philosophical musings or public statements and the text of the Constitution and laws passed by Congress and signed by the President. The founders knew that and that is one reason why they sweated (literally and figuratively) over the details of the structure and powers of the Government they were creating. Church and State MUST be kept truly separate. The Christian Right is clearly trying to turn this nation into an open or at least a de facto theocracy. It is truly wrong and frightening.

What book do we swear on in court? That's right! It is the Christian bible. It is only natural that we should be able to place the Ten Commandments in a court house. Chief Justice Roy Moore was correct when he suggested this.
