ARLINGTON, VA; Sep. 6, 2023— PBS announced today that James Robertson will serve as Vice President, Information Technology. In this role, James will oversee the strategic planning, execution, and maintenance across the information technology systems. He will develop innovative methods and agile techniques that support PBS’s technology initiatives and evolving infrastructure. James will join the Technology and Operations division and report to Rhonda Holt, PBS Chief Technology Officer.

“James is a proven leader who will help us fulfill the PBS mission by keeping our systems running smoothly. He understands how to deliver consistent results while embracing changes that will benefit our employees and the communities we serve,” said Holt. “We are excited to bring his wealth of experience, strong leadership, and extensive operational expertise to PBS.”

James has more than 25 years of experience in IT operations supporting critical data systems for the U.S. Intelligence Community and prominent companies. He joins PBS from Meta, where he directed analysis of its global data center infrastructure across its 21 main campuses. The operational improvements he implemented saved hundreds of millions in operational expenses, and drove efficiency for several products and services, including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

Before Meta, James served as the Deputy Chief Information Officer for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, where he led every aspect of IT strategy and operations. He effectively managed the IT systems, networks, data services, and cybersecurity operations that made the DC Metro system operational, and supported the greater Washington, D.C. community.

Prior to that role, James was the Director of Global Hosting and Data Centers for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, where he helped manage the multi-Billion Cloud contracts for the Federal Government and led data center operations on six continents. James has a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from Syracuse University and is a veteran of the United States Air Force.
