Arlington, VA; August 20, 2026 – Today, the Television Critics Association (TCA) announced the winners of the 42nd Annual TCA Awards, celebrating the standout series and stars of the 2025–2026 television season. THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION won the award for Outstanding Achievement in News and Information.
Directed by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein and David Schmidt and written by Geoffrey C. Ward, THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION brings the country’s founding struggle and eight-year War for Independence vividly to life as the nation commemorates its 250th anniversary.
Part of the PBS America @ 250 initiative, the documentary series helped define a new era for PBS streaming with a 4K UHD presentation that honors the artistry of Burns’s storytelling while delivering a cinematic-quality viewing experience to viewers.
PBS’s acclaimed FRONTLINE, an eight-time winner in the same category, was also nominated, while PBS KIDS’ beloved CARL THE COLLECTOR, PHOEBE & JAY, and WEATHER HUNTERS earned nominations for Outstanding Achievement in Children’s Programming.
This season’s TCA nominations were determined solely by a vote of TCA members and recognized programs distributed across major broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms from June 1, 2025, through May 31, 2026.
