"News organizations tend to overdo reporting of sensational stories like the Kobe Bryant trial and are more concerned with ratings than substance."

... just another Jerry Springer ...

September 16,2003

"news" is getting closer and closer to just being another Jerry Springer show.

... editorial views ...

September 16,2003

Diversity of journalistic or editorial views and values is a hopeless goal in a country where major corporations now own and control virtually every media outlet in this nation and cares ONLY for corporate profits. Profits are not the most important thing to these ghouls, it is the ONLY important thing!

... press talks down ...

September 16,2003

The "dumbing down of America" continues, with the press leading the way. The press talks down to the lowest level of our population, instead of making us listen up!

Lou, NY Strongly Agree

... reflect the reporters views ...

September 16,2003

Little effort is made in reporting the story accurately and more of the story tends to reflect what appears to be the reporters views or what he or she wants to hear.

Richard, CT Strongly Agree

... media hype ...

September 16,2003

There are approximately 45 murders a day in the USA. Laci Peterson would never stand out if not for the media hype. But her murder replaced the Irag coverage and we were treated to great detail about every aspect of her family while Iraq coverage was superfical. (3 days of repetition that the population of Baqdad was angry because the power was out but not one little piece of information about why the power was out or what was being done to restore it) 50 years from now will Laci Peterson or the events in Iraq be remembered?

Too much of the same thing over and over.

Travis, TX Strongly Agree

... I need the facts ...

September 16,2003

Most of the sensational stories that are covered are overcovered. It seems like an obsession on the part of the media. I really only need the facts of the story and after that I usually turn it off. It becomes very redundant and I wonder what is the purpose of all this coverage.

... the news is just a compact ...

September 16,2003

The media is out to make money, its their job. this does not, though, give them the right to throw sensastional jargon in my face. Every time i turn on the news its always death, destruction, killer bees and the like. they are there to feed the populace what they want. but the populace is stupid. and are easily swayed by propiganda and media of all forms. it is a shame on the entire system that we have not created thinking people with our education system. i know among my friends that they rush home in time to see the bachelor, or something like it. its not just the news that feeds this information to us, is everything. the news is just a compact form it.
i feel that the puplic and the world have been let down by our actions, here and in other areas.
