... no time to air ...

September 16,2003

They say repeating stories is because of ratings. Considering all the information available in alternate media sources, it's pretty clear that the corporate media repeats stories that don't threaten the corporate status quo. Then they have no time to air what's really going on in the world.

Steven, MD Strongly Agree

... their own self interest ...

September 16,2003

News media is so concerned about selling the news that they are missing the really important issues. There are things that aren't covered because they can't sell. Also, they often display their own self interest. Why, for instance, was the media so quiet about what the FCC was planning, with regards to the loosing of the guidelines for monoplizing, until it had almost happened. There is no corprate news media that you can trust, because they are too focused on the bottom line.

... news coverage on IMPORTANT ...

September 16,2003

I like extended news coverage on IMPORTANT issues, but that extended coverage should be new and relivant information, not what color boxers the sports athlete wore when alleging to have commited some senceless act.

Keith, OT Strongly Agree

... Buzz words galore ...

September 16,2003

The Media is the ends to a means, Indoctrination. Buzz words galore. Like Feel and Consensus. What ever happened to Know and Debate. I quit watching the, NEWS. I read books that deal with cooking, gardening, etc. Need real news. I have a mind and use it.

Nancy, OH Strongly Agree

... damages the self-concept ...

September 16,2003

While I know that sensationalism is used to "hook" viewers, I believe that it damages the self-concept of the viewer through the message that the hot story is the only one that would cause people to watch. It says to me, "you're too unaware to appreciate a story of national/international importance, so we'll just give you what we think you'll comprehend."
Such an insult!

Joel, WA Strongly Agree

... the real news goes unreported ...

September 16,2003

I am tired of the same hurricane, fire, earthquake, flood, etc. (boring) while the real news goes unreported! i.e. Why are 28 pages of the Sept 11 report being censored?

Paul, WI Agree

... I turn the channel ...

September 16,2003

I have gotten to the point now that I turn the channel (click the remote) every time I see a "news" story about Kobe Bryant, Laci Peterson, or 'Ben-and-Jay-Lo.'.Literally. Every time. (I am not kidding.)

Torres, OT Agree

... I hate realities ...

September 16,2003

I think that mass-media is terrible around the world,I hate realities. People become stuped because they think that T.V is the real world

Ivy, NY Agree

... they need higher ratings ...

September 16,2003

Dear Media Today,
I find that "News Organizations overdo their reporting of sensational stories," because they need higher ratings. There does not seem too much substance in the news any more.It seems to me tha the more the story is sensational, the more viewers will want to watch it.

Frederick, NY Strongly Agree

... a betrayer of honesty ...

September 16,2003

I agree, the most powerful media companies in the world at the end of the day and when we all go to bed at night simply care about the ratings and money, not the truth and honesty. Big media is no longer a guardian of truth but a betrayer of honesty in pursuit of richest and wealth. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
