I am disgusted by the attitude that since people watch the news during a Peterson or Bryant feeding frenzy this is what they must want to see. I tune in to see the news and sitting through this endless drivel is the penalty I must often pay to find out what else may be happening in the world.

On slow news days the media definitely over-emphasises the the news of the day. They seek to live for the "HUGE" story - the hurricane, the school shooting, or the major western earthquake.

I realize that they have to keep people watching in order to attract the advertisers that pay for the news-- but I do think they should cut the stories shorter.
Every time a significant portion of time is devoted to something sensational, I wonder what real stories (especially political stories) are being neglected. Congress could be about to pass a measure disastrous to our future, and most people would have no idea and no chance to respond.

Instead of concentrating on the "sound bite" the news needs to be more objective and educational. It is obvious that PBS,NBC,ABC,CBS are politically bias and this destroys credibility. This is why FOX is gaining market share.

I have resorted to listening to other countrys' news. Although I am grateful to public television.
It also seems that cable TV editorializes too much and doesn't report what they hear and see but tries to steer their quesions in a biased way.
