At night, especially in summer, the sidewalks are nearly impassable. They're chockablock with extended families shopping, eating melon seeds from little paper cones, or just looking at the other people. Soon enough the wives and grandmas and children all go home. Men head for a smoke and a glass of tea at their favorite coffeehouse.
